I had typed a long explanation with pics earlier, but doing too many things at the same time with this old laptop, virtual memory error, shut down internet explorer etc... I hate windoze...

anyway. Long story short. it took a while to get all the parts to build the semi. I had to sell off the project a couple years ago but managed to get it back this summer and even though it passed around hands, nobody did anything to it other than shelf it. I am almost finished now, I just need some bling to complete it.

I bought the chassis motor and body first of a forum. Then added bits as I could. Rather than just add all stock parts, I grabbed some aluminum parts. Friends and aquaintences along the way have made some parts like the rear upper arms and the shock tower (which also came with a manual front brake adjuster that allows use of either second servo or the throttle servo to control), cyclops hooked me up with the front adjustable bulkheads for a killer deal and I made the carbon servo tray myself... I'll take a pic of the chassis as it is now and upload in a bit... I kind of fell off taking pics after I could actually drive it hehe. There's also carbon screwed to the top of the front lower arms for stiffness and a ball type swaybar mounted to the carbon (yes it has purple, I just haven't deanodized it yet... anyone knows me knows I hate purple)

a few in order as I built it up

With Firehammer buggy tires on. Was fun in a snow covered parking lot hehe and the right sized rims... until I got proper semi tires and rims

Touring car tires looked like I was trying to rice it out

And a short video taken, but it was handling like crap. It was very cold out and we had been running earlier and really ripping it up. The baja got busted up (he was filming since we finally had some free hands) but I didn't notice there was a loose screw in the lower front arm at the knuckle. Sam's Firehammer had the same thing happen just before mine fell out. you here him say wtf and a few seconds later I knew something was up (uh oh) but it was just starting to snow so I kept going anyway. I couldn't push it, as I thought it was cold tires at first but they weren't warming up and it was getting harder to control... and I was cold LOL the snow dumped down as soon as I fixed the loose screw so we packed up the markers

Next vid we will setup a bigger track, I just had no room left in my car because I brought my ladder to get up on a wall for a drivers' stand but we found the loading bays worked fine. So we will bring a lot more markers and make a bigger track next meet

The FG Car I just traded my Redcat Rampage for. The body didn't fit right and had some damage. I had to move the trunk mounting holes over and there was a chunk missing from the left rear. Shoe goo and drywall tape to the rescue... until the boys here at Large Scale get back to me about the Dodge body to be released MOPAR baby... hurry up and make it allready, I got my income tax refund today LOL

The chassis is custom made cnc 10mm aluminumwith aluminum braces screwed from underneat along each side. it's very stiff. Tuned pipe, cable fr brakes, alloy knuckles, threaded shocks...

I am making a carbon servo tray for the car, and just got word from the guys at Large Scale Alloy they have a set of front cable brakes and aluminum knuckles for the semi for me. placing that order in a couple mins... AWESOME. got some bling coming :D

anyway. I borrowed some nail polish from my sister that was almost identical to the body color and painted it over the drywal tape. I did cut 3 layers of tape to fill the indentaion and shoe goo outside before "painting".

and then here's a couple pics of the semi with new shoes, the car with the rollbar re installed and my NF bike

there dc2man, you can come spam my thread for a bit as payback ;)

Nice work. Those look like some fun. Guess you didn't have the car when the video was shot? Thats going to be some fun when you get them racing each other. Better get some cones or sidewalk chalk.

very nice

now there is a man nwith some nice differnt r/c's...

congrats.:)

man that semi is real class, what kind of cylinder head is that man?
real tasty job with the c/fiber bits,i spotted the front arms you used some of your trickery there also.

love that on road orange body man is it a civic??

what tyres do you use for your fg onroad?

did you make up a front homemade balljoint that goes on top of the hub,i just spotted that also, good idea if it works,as them things can be a pain when the screws pull through.

nice to finally get to see your selection man, very nice....:)

p.s man i got a little rc bike the same as that one well its a honda nsr 500 i wll post up a pic on my onroad fourm, never thought to mention that here ever lol

I got the car the next day after the video was shot. I have it pretty much ready to roll now. The discount place I get a lot of stuff has boxes of cones. Today the income tax refund came in. I ordered a couple hop ups for the semi, pay the rent off and have a little left over for something to mark the tracks out. Been using extension chords and garden hoses. you can change the layout kicking it around lol yet you can drive over it if need be

I thought the orange body was a civic as well but I couldn't find a civic in 535 wb. after driving my bud's crazy with look at this pic,,, ok then this one... kinda reminds me of this scenario. we figure it's an opel astra with different decals.

I have a new set of pmt's coming. I ran pmt's on my 2nd to last motorcycle and tried grp's after that. pmt's were much better traction. these tires are showing belts now lol but will work fine for my trailer.

as far as the knuckle, I just used a bolt with a washer instead of the tapered head screw. what I had and it will stop the arm from coming fully apart in an impact even if the ball pops... doesn't help screws falling out though... alloy knuckles coming though oh boy.

I am about the only hardcore rc bike guy here. every other bike around is one I bought modded and sold to build another. seems the only way I can get guys into it is if I make a nice bike then sell or trade it off... I find them a nice diversion and work well on our tracks. I love the bikes. this one is brushless so I can take it outside my house even. I have fun using the speed bumps as jumps and doing power slides (even the stock nf tires aren't great, though better than the TTR tires). I have decals for all the big names, and an older gentleman on rc groups, Allen Waterfall?, has a million decals done up tou can print out yourself... he did me up a set of Triumph decals I will use next body.

and the arm with the carbon I can't take credit for but it does work really well. got those from the same guy that made the front shock tower and brake adjuster. amazing what you can find when ebay shopping and decide to write the sellers and ask questions... this stuff wasn't listed, just experimental pieces he tried... I like to gamble and it worked out good. The head button came with the motor when I got it. I thought my 2 motors were different at first because of that head. Even thought the semi motor was really old because it's round... until I saw the serial numbers on the 2 motors and see they are 166 apart and the car is actually older.

I was checking a vid btb put up for that Nutech car and came across this... I see what my redcat rally car is going to be trying. just sold my 10th scale drifter. fun but too small for me.... now this guy can drift man

I want one of those semi's. I just love those things. Pipeous, you have some nice vehicles!

You pieced that whole thing together?

extension chords and garden hoses

Brilliant! I was thinking strictly drain tile. I like the hose idea too.

I saw that video, they must be using some super hard tires to get it to spin that much without spinning off from the heat.

got the hose idea when we used to run little 18r's outside my detail shop. we added lights and ran until 2-3 am lol. when business was slow I'd wash the front lot off and the 100 ft hose joined at ends and 125 feet of air hose around the outside was a perfect track. the garden hose was forgiving but the air hose sucked you right in if you hit it... we put cardboard table tops down and different stuff around for bumps and traction changes...

Ya I built that from nothing over a long time. bits from here and there. I'll never let it go. I'd personally hope now that the GH man has seen the semi he goes and gets an fg comp hint hint lol... I love the fg stuff. just about to sit down to a taped hockey game and install my carbon servo tray I made today in the car...

I am also going to mount my castle bec to the battery tray so I can flip it back and forth between the vehicles. I use 2 lipo packs with a Y cable... 2200 mah 3s lipos. I can run all day with those things... never put more than 1200 back per pack and that was 2 days of running plus some setup. tires wear pretty good

one day I will pull each one apart and polish the aluminum but I want to have them both running first so I have something to play with while the other is down... and the car I haven';t even driven yet...

A quick update. I cut a chunk of carbon up and made a new servo tray for the car. I had to use the weenie dremmel discs as my attatchment (was going to call it a shaft as I can't remember what it's called, but the jokes about a bent shaft would be just too easy) for holding the rotozip discs is bent, so I got to break a few. I cut a little too far on one side of the 1/4 scale but it still works fine... I didn't have any fuel tube left after replacing all the motorcycle lines so I hacked up an air line I hated and tossed that on for now so I can fill the tank and not have it spill all over (I understand why it was so dirty when I got it). Also got the roll bar back on. it's a tight fit under that body and had to mod a bit or it bowed the body out. I shoe goo'd the rx on the tray and mounted my picco on the gas tank. The picco just worked there so I could cut the switch plugs off and go direct to the picco. Need to hit the lhs for some dean's so I can add a break point for pulling the motor...

Next is to get the materials together and build this. I have been working on it in my head for a while and found the perfect template to go from. I am building it from scratch and will be rivetting stuff together for fit then brazing once I have the layout. it's easier to mod removing rivets hehe

They were kind enough to have a drawing with dimensions on the actual trailer so it makes life easy to work with... it won't be exact but this is what my basis will be. I want to add some toggle switches hooked to those little crawler winches for operating the ramps and for bringing the car on and off the trailer... should be fun

ive been wanting to build a trailer for my funny car but with all of my projects going haven't got the time . ill build one one day . good luck mate nice cars and guitars

I got a little running time in today, nice sunny day. We had a meet planned but when I got there they were moving stuff into the building. I stopped and talked with security and some of the people that worked there, and they have no problems with us using the lot, but it was a zoo with big trucks coming and going.... and even then they weren't saying no but it might not be wise to run there today with all the traffic...

I found a spot actoss the street and setup in a similar but smaller location... I ended up running by myself but I got a few hours of driving in today.... seems I am getting near the end of the day when I remember the camera lol. I took a couple pics after the video. I was driving and one screw had fallen out of the upper hinge pin adjuster so it was free to move around, the other side was half out, and I noticed later the lower screw was loose too. They were last loktited many moons ago... been wanting to polish the bulkhead anyway.

I think the way the camera is facing off that cardboard bin, it doesn't really give the same feeling of speed. I rolled on one corner later in the day after the video and did 3 tumbles... now it looks like a race truck with some road rash on it hehe

damage for about 4.5 hrs of fun today? some scratches on body, lost a screw and bent a plastic rod end in the tumble, yet I ran for half a tank with it like that....

stopped by the dollar store on the way and picked up some sidewalk chalk. 12 sticks for a buck and it took 3.5 to make todays track layout...

The bike I ran for a while before shooting, the power was getting down. Need a faster track for the bikes to keep the speed up. It's tough making slow tight corners

http://www.vimeo.com/3795353

And some pics... the dual stage shock springs I made worked out really good. I had a heck of a time breaking the back end loose today unless I hit sand or dirt on power... I know the pipe is crap but I have a pipe coming so didn't worry too much. That little bit of mess was easy to clean

I just made an on board camera mount for the semi.... the cool part is I used a mini tripod and it is inside the truck with the body on, and looking out the windshield. I just did a quick test out front of my house to see how it's going to work out....

I am allready working on a better mount to reduce vibration but this will still produce pretty good results

Just installed the offroad front brake kit and alloy knuckles. Finally got to use the front brake adjuster I bought with the shock tower from the UK. Eventually I'll add a second servo but for now the digi works fine for both. I can manually adjust bias with the spring loaded front adjusters there.

I have the hub caps coming but kind of like the look of brake discs through the rim and considering seperating back brakes now too....

Thanks to LSA and Mooman for these goodies. Going to install the 2 speed in the semi tonight. I plan on pulling everything out of the back end and cleaning up/polishing the aluminum bits... and I'll clean the tape goo of the front tower from my camera mount. time to finish the new mount
