Just about 9 weeks now. I checked tracking this morning and my package has arrived in Canada... but it is in customs in Quebec? I don't understand how it could land in the middle of the country when I am on the west coast!! only took 2 days for my vw from sickboy to leave his country en route to mine... 1 day for my springs to leave Taiwan.. they landed in Vancouver and are in customs. and now almost 4 weeks for my tower hobbies order (lesson learned, only use ups expensive shipping from tower from now on... I still get my discount and parts in 2 days)

All my stuff has arrived now. I stripped the semi down and made an on road car with the solo engine. I need some new tires now. I put the 8 shock setup on for now, but I need a couple front shocks so i can swap over to regular arms and tower, then add my cable brakes to the front. The puurple springs I bought are a bit shorter than the stock red, but much stiffer. made a big difference from the semi setup.

this one is fg and some duratrax parts (I like the blue, what can I say. and the firehammer dif sleeve fits tighter over the fg dif case than the fg one does...). I also had to drill some new holes to fit that servo tray. it said fg... and it takes the smaller hitec servo for steering. I had some unkown name metal gear servo to toss in. came out of another car and no label. seems fast enough. it'll work for now.

I have the MT finished, just have to take some pics, and the vw is about 90% done. rn out of nycloc nuts so still have 2 servos to install and the gas tank. also printing out some masking to make my flames... blue orange and chrome flames should look cool. I'll have it ready for paint by the weekend.. then my order gets paid for the fibreglass mt body from sickboy. lots of painting to do over the next week or so. my hands are getting tired of wrenching though and the family is getting sick of fg parts all over the house LOL. I mean about 5 boxes and 2 chassis stripped around all over...

It's cheaper to buy a complete duratrax gas tank than it is to buy a rubber stopper and fuel lines for the 2 fg tanks I have. $12 for a complete tank...

still have some stuff in the living room. feeling lazy today... and sore. dang servo saver spring slipped off what I was spreading it on and it slipped to my palm. pinched me good right below my thumb. couldn;t spread it apart so ripped it off. lol.

I am ordering some stuff to complete the semi now from Advance Hobby. I asked about motors. They have a good deal on a zenoah 23 no carb. they also supply Solo stuff and have a Solo Tuned engine...I was interested until I found out the Solo is over $900!!

cool just had a digi cam donated. my sister bought a new canon so gave me hers. my 16bg card doesn't work in it, but it has a 1gb so I can make some vids and take pics again

Semi is sitting on the table now and parts spread out. I'll get the front end put on the new chassis, up to the gas tank anyway. I am waiting for some turnbuckles to arrive to install the new rear arms... the project car above I sold off real cheap and delivering it in the morning to a local... do what I have to to get more people involved....

mt was finished and ready to run, vw is waiting for shock springs and am painting the body, so I can get back to my favourite of the lot. Not much is changing except I removed the rear discs and went back to the large layshaft brake. the carbon shock tower/rear brace I couldn't drill holes into to make the same mount, so I put that front brake set on the mt. I'll get a proper rear disc brake down the road.

Front end is back together and made some side guards for this beast too. Just waiting for some turn buckles to show up so I can finish the back end

It's pretty much back together now. my turnbuckles arrived today. I had to cut the header on the samba to fit though. the pipe was sticking out past the body mounts... I had to make a couple cuts to get it right. now it sits really close to my first gear pinion. I can't go any larger for 1st gear now but that's ok as I was thinking about dropping a tooth.

Just the back end to finish. Basically add the turnbuckles and install the lower arms and bolt it up, otherwise the rear end is allready built... that said, I somehow ordered the wrong ball ends for my vw steering rods (they sent me the short servo ones grrr) so I will have to get creative there. I'll take some pics later when it's finished

It's ready to rumble. I just have to get it out, give it a tune up for the new pipe and set the 2 speed as I had it ripped apart to file the engaging arm. I worked on the vw first and went as far as I could (parts... I was sure I had enough steering rod ends LOL)... and the rear spring binding on the firehammer mt arms had me baffled. I would need to dremmel so much material out of the upper arm it would be weak. just a different shape. I decided to open the other pack of balloon springs and try on this truck. They fit like a glove. Don't even need a spacer. I couldn't fit the front on as I have a lower arm on upper. I can fix that easy enough and probably add them later to try. Now I have the spring setup here to toss on the vw rears. I went back to a layshaft brake but it's the large disc at least. The rears were actually mt fronts and on Sam's MT now. I glued an rx battery up front too for the headlights

Here's some pics. The arms have 2 of 4 aluminum rod ends. I'll have to find 2 more but only found them in Germany so far. I guess it's off to ebay uk... The motor side plate I have to take the blue off, just doesn't look right. The brakes will take some modding to fit the back, then I am giving the layshaft brake and larger motor side plate to Sharkey... the dif case is also for him. I also got my light kit with working brake lights. Going to be a busy weekend for me

Thanks to Slawhammer for the goodies

Blue motor side plate is now silver. I experimented since I had no oven cleaner. I use a mag rim cleaner for detailing, an acid. that worked pretty good and the metal is smooth. I had to fix the dishwasher wiring this morning so my rc's had to wait... and one of my wipers snapped at the plastic connection on the way home so had to buy new ones...about sleep time now, I work in 9 hrs again. Bud has to drop my jeweller's rouge off so I can start polishing some things.

not much left to do on the truck now. add what I have. get rear uprights and bulkheads, front arms. it's raining for days now so I'll have lots of wrenching time

Here's a few pics and a couple vids to show the light kit installed.
I shoe goo'd the micro switch to the side of the servo.
I had to extend the brake light wires a fair amount.
I also added a plug to unhook the brake switch to remove the body

Just polished up a part for my semi finally. I got this with some other stuff I got off Slawhammer. It was blue. I tried my mag wheel cleaner, which is hydroflauric acid basically, and stripped the anodizing. it worked not bad but left a coating. so I sanded it while I watched the hockey game tonight and dragged the dremmel in. red rouge works so well for metal polishing. I just wish I had a bigger pad to work with, bench wheel be nice.

Traction

Why on all videos the truck tends to slide severely?, no traction at top speed and even also on the last video of the 1/5 without the body.
