ok i run on short tracks and I want it to really rip out of the slow corners, I found the stock gearing had massive top end but crap down low.

first of all id highly recomend a VRC pipe, my 2WD has one and after a thirty second squirt im super impressed.

stock gearing I believe was 16t pinion and 46t spur. i now run14/48 (i think) same as my MT ran and its awesome out of the corners. you do notice a difference top end though. plus my jetpro is crap down low anyway so ill go back to stock gearing once I can afford a VRC for the 4WD as well.

im still on stock gearing for the layshaft and ringear, don't know what they are but im sure you could find it easy enough. If you cant let me know and ill find out for you.

no its just had allot of sand usage, got it from a mate who took it from stock to this and every tank was done in sand. its done heaps of tanks so no surprise.

it actually feels lighter than my 4WD which is just a sportline model with pipe, alloy engine mounts and steel spur, front disc cables. weird when you think about all the alloy on it!

just ran two tanks, man this engine is awesome! so strong throught the rev range.

I couldnt get the original carby it came with to idle even, so I put my 668 off the 4wd on it and that fixed it up. got some clutch shoes off stu, their very low so im still looking for a pair if anyone can help me out.

but damn this engine was screaming!

its got severe understeer so I might try my hostiles on it and see if that helps. touch the throttle while trying to turn and it ploughs straight foward.

This was at ordish rd though which is hardpack and very slippery, the 5b's seems to struggle to even go in a straight line but the fg had none of those problems. this is going to be a track weapon once I get it to where I want it.

Here's a couple more pics of the brake linkages im trying to make work.

Ive decided to put a plastic sleeve over the cable, main reason is to make it more rigid. what im trying to do is use a cable for flexibility but keep it rigid enough to push the caliper arm back when im not on the brakes.

Its not working. cable still has too much flex and i haven't adjusted the length right as its bugger all braking.

Im confident the elcon caliper can be made to work and work well, i just need to keep tickering until ive got it better.

Just not sure if I should give up the cable idea and go back to a rod?

I love using cables but I also have a sleeve over top like the fronts use. adds a little rigidity to push the lever back and doesn't cut holes in stuff

thanks atom, ill get them locally, got some off a forum memeber, almost brand new, their rovan ones so ill check if they fit.

as for the cable yeah the addition of the plastic sleeve helped but still not 100% happy with it. got some welding rod here at work so might go out in my lunch break later and see what I can do, stay tuned for some pics :D

ok spent my lunch break in the workshop and here's what ive done.

had enough of trying to get the cable to to work so grabbed a welding rod and shaved the edges with a grinder so the (don't know what there called) end stopper thingys fit. its a steel rod so the beds you can see had to be done in a vice. overall im quite happy, gave it a 5 second test and seems to lock up easily on concrete floor, give it a good test tommorow.

I understand the problem now - couldn't figure out why you were having this problem for a while.
You got your servo mounted UNDER the servo tray, instead of OVER it.

You could mount your servo over the tray, and even get a servo raiser to raise it up further.
Take care to avoid the roll cage.

Al.

bit confused atom, servo is on top, hence the screws and grommets LOL.

ran 2.5 tanks through the beast on sat, some footage of it in the vic section.

man im loving this thing, had a few mild rolls, no damage, one of them the wing folded in half but then flexed back to normal

it was the slipperiest and dustiest ive ever seen it, 2wd struggled to come out of the corners and I looped it many many times, but that due to lack of talent on my part and slippery conditions. I just couldnt keep up with the MCD LOL.

gave it a strip down and bath last night, going to get it all ready for this weekends club meet.

Heres some action from saturday.

thanks al, i check my box of spares and see what i have, don't have to worry about it touching the fuel tank that way too!

forgot to mention i put the hostiles on this, not that the vid shows but its much better, im now running the bow ties on my 4WD as this one needs more grip LOL.

LOL ur not wrong, its an awesome spot after a rain, heaps more traction and no dust!

but its been over 30 for the last few days (hit 40 yeasterday and 39 today) so yeah crazy dusty, with 2 rc's at once i had to stop a few tomes coz I didnt know where the FG went!

im going to be buying an outlaw for this one too, my 4WD runs on and i had a very close look sat night, inner outlaw didnt have a spec of dirt on it and v stack was spotless, so its going its job.

im going to try the threshold once the aussie shops get them in stock but outlaw is proving quite reliable right now.

this one is running a stock set up, what i did was rub grease on both ends of the stock filter and did a couple of filter changes during the day, inspected the carby and no dirt inside so all good for now.
