So some of you may have seen the FG i picked up off craigslist from the "introducing" thread. If not got a good deal on it and picked it up. It needed a major bath the dirt/mud had been caked on for about a year. Motor not sure if it runs or not. Came with some good servos and remote though.

Anyways here it is when i first got it...

Hopefully more to come then the modding issue starts lol

lookin good mate, you're gonna have some major fun with that! looks like it exploded in the third photo LOL.. i'm missing my monster wheels now, wishing i didn't sell them. so you gonna use it on a track or just wherever you can? i made some side panels for my MB out of foamex, you could possible try that on yours, or use a thin sheet of perspex, help keep most of the crap out.

Your MT looks great

How much did u get the truck off craigslist for?

You can take thin sheet metal from home depot and cut it out to protect the sides from getting mud rocks etc. Thats what i did on my MT.

Looking much better. did you clean all the bearings, refill the shocks and refill the dif while at it? I assume you re loktited all the metal to metal screws too.

I got the truck and 3pk for 400 which i thought was a steal. I actually ordered a full replacement kit for the bearings, changed the shock fluids, and will do the diff when i tackle the rear end.

I plan on mostly just bashing it not to many tracks by me.

As for you guys that added pannels to the inside how did you secure it to the sides? Sounds like a good idea.

And as for my plans... im not 100% which direction i want to go, at first I wanted to do all elcon parts but now im thinking its not needed, I may put a new motor in, some alloy engine mounts from what I hear there needed.

Any of you guys have exp with the 4wd kit with a higher powered motor like a modded 30.5?

my side panels were easy peasy! i cut them high enough to meet the top of the inside of the body just below the window area (if you see what i mean), on the side of the chassis it has the long black plastic piece which is screwed in place, there are little split pin lugs so i drilled the odd hole on the foamex and made it fit. hopefully i've got some pix attached... note, my MB isn't the Pro version, so no twin shocks n aluminium side panels. but there's nothing stopping you from making your own inner panels!

as for the 4WD.... it's perfect! i've written a thread about the conversion. worth every penny..

if you go with the 4wd conversion, get a zenoah clutch housing. I am on my 3rd hacking session today of my cy clutch housing to get the dam thing to line up. it's making my layshaft crooked and binding my oinion and spur. just a word of warning. it's not a big deal if you don't mind fiddling about but nobody ever mentioned it that I remember and am going through it now...

there is also a part of the roll cage at the top that has body mounts you might want to add for posts through the roof.

pipeous - do you have an alloy engine mount fitted for the 4WD (the larger one on the clutch side?) i had alloy engine mounts on my MB before the 4WD kit, though when building it I had to revert to the provided plastic FG mounts... things just didn't quite fit.
