Spent the weekend up at a mates place, engine in the beetle cried no more (lining was falling apart) but luckily I bought up my new G270 for just such a situation :)

So while finishing a bottle of burboun we put the G270 in (after doing crankcase mod and pullstart mod) and gave it its first run on Sunday. Run it very rich but its looking promising so far! Ill get some vids up once ive broken it in.

couple of pics of damage from the weekend, not too bad at all considering how hard I wash bashing it. (I was secretly in the mood to break something)

LOL thought that but ive done close to 40 tanks in the MT and this is the first time ive ever broken one of these so i just got the plastic one again, now that im bashing harder (as I have a spare car) if it continues to go I will go alloy, but happy with plastic for now.

Hey,

I know of a smashing set of alloy uprights, only £100 - ONE HUNDRED BRITISH POUNDS - ask Voo !!!
(Take a look at the Ebay's finest thread !!)

LOL i can get those brand new here for similar price.

if I start going the alloy route I wont stop so I don't want to start. the MT is going to get less use once I sort the baja out.

i hear the smartech alloy uprights fit the MT perfect and they are very cheap.

don't know really, the only smarec part ive ever tried was a layshaft gear, $40 for the FG one and $12 for the smartec one. Smartec one outlasted any of the fg ones and still looks new.

I cant get the FG ones to last!

Thats my finding on that one part ive tested, evertying else I don't know but my thinking is alloy is alloy. unlike plastic where there's obvious differences in strength and quality alloy should be pretty similar accross the board.

the smatech alloy isn't bad, I have a dif case in my fg.... hell I used buggy arms on my semi too. much cheaper. I'd still use fg dif gears and outdrives as they are better metal so last longer
