Yeah, I like the tensioner. Have any ideas for the D shaft?

The belt drive system workes by the pulley on the A shaft going around the gear plate bearing support. It's partially hollow. The pulley on the lay shaft is hollow on the other side so the nut is inside the pulley.mulepic said:hmm, i'm wondering if there is another way to pull this off. The first hurdle looks like we need to figure out how to line up the D shaft w/ the A- shaft. The A shaft sticks much further out and needs to be brought in. I'm always open to ideas of doing this in some other unique way if you have them. Maybe it's a combo gear/belt solution, etc etc.
I figured that's why there's such high gearing b/c this pulley needs to be large to fit around the bearing supportRCDAD said:The belt drive system workes by the pulley on the A shaft going around the gear plate bearing support. It's partially hollow.
I can bore the gear to work w/ the lay shaft. But I'm thinking if I get a longer lay shaft then the A pulley won't have to be pushed in (i.e. I can use a smaller pulley)RCDAD said:The pulley on the lay shaft is hollow on the other side so the nut is inside the pulley.
If you want to take a look at the kit I can show you what I'm talking about.
This is the hardest part for everyone who wants to manufacture the pulleys. The factory shafts are all offset to accommodate the 4 gears.
All these belts are standard. They are used for many applications. All the kits in production use shelf parts. Finding what you want is the hard part.Deluge said:I was looking at the belt, too. Looks familiar. I think Demon was going to use one of those belts for his belt drive.
Sweet! Thanks for the links. Bookmarked.mulepic said:Here's another website that is a nightmare to navigate. It's a child of a child of a parent site: gtcgears. It's called econobelt.com I had the option of 9mm, 15mm, or 25mm belts: http://www.econobelt.com/Timing_Belts.htm
Here are the pulleys: http://www.econobelt.com/e-store/Pulleys.htm
The only complaint I have about this place is their ridiculously high shipping and handling. It's $15 and it ships slower than slow.
The other thing about that place I forgot to mention is make sure to check the box that says 'wait till all products are in stock before shipping'. Here's the deal, the belts never say they are in stock b/c they have to cut them which takes 3 days. I did not check the box and hence paid $30 in shipping/handling for a $40 orderDeluge said:Sweet! Thats impressive! I thought I saw my lights dim yesturday.mulepic said:Yesterday and today I focused on charging the batteries. I can charge a battery from storage voltage (60% full) to full charge in under 15 mins w/ the bulk charging approach. Tomorrow I'll try charging from lvc to 100%, I'm hopeful it can be done in under 25 mins. I know the math doesn't sound right but the last 40% takes longer than the first 60%.
