Hi guys bought one of those coke race hydro's pretty much the same with a different paint job I think..does yours still run the clutch?? as I cut mine off and made an adapter to go direct drive using the original housing (looks stock) he he..ported it a little and it sounds pretty good at this stage going to run it this weekend I hope..!!
cheers Ian

don't really need the clutch as the water doesn't pick up standing still ..Have seen steam comming out of the water outlet of some of these boats and can get a air lock because of it just trying to keep it as reliable as possible and by reducing centrifical weight will rev quicker with a bit more top end :2guns:

My hull 1/8 formulaboats

As I am new to this forum I like to show you guys my hull which will be powered by a 26cc R254 by RCMK. I build this hull myself during the last 2 years. Painting has be done by a professional carpainter and decals are made by Wesley Customs. After the decals were applied the hull was clearcoated.

The center of gravity point with this type of hull is 1 inch behind the rear of the front sponons. That is where the engine is placed. The radiobox is placed in front of the hull. This type of hull has most of the up front near the middle so the prop is half in the water, half out of the water. This is called surfacedrive and allows the prop to rev higher. The strut in our boats are attached underneath the hull through the bottom of the hull. This allows us to change the angle of the strut and the depth.

The hydroplane is a 3point hull which means that when the hull is running only the rear of the front sponsons and the prop are touching the water. More info about these hydroplane you'll find on the organizations website: http://www.abrahydroplanes.com/. I f you want to see them in action, check out the last race in Qatar( which was the first race outside the northern continent of the America's): http://tampadigital.com/abra/
