it looks like i have solved my ongoing problem that was the gears/gearplate.

i bought some (6 gears-3 sets) gears from Martin from this forum and yes it looks like they are the answer to the melting-binding-breaking wearing gear problems.

i went through one tank today and i did not have any problems at all. first time since i got the tt a year ago that i did not stop for gears.

the photos are after todays run. there is no wear at all or anything else that i can notice.

during installation i had to shim the gears for a tight fit on the squares. i did that by using the aluminium from a soft drink can. it works really good. i think it is visible in the middle shaft. i will continue testing and reporting.

thanks Martin.

here you can see various gear ratios and speeds at 17000rpm with hpi wheels.

the yellow ratios are the ones that i have with the gears i got. i sellected them to be able to use any type of wheels from hpi to mt.

hope it helps, if anyone wants the calculator just let me know and i can email it as an excel spreadsheet.

Normally on a new square the gears fit really tight, you have to pry with a big flat screwdriver to remove the gear.

Are you sure about the ring and pinion tooth, I admit that I never count them, but I always saw 10/30 for the middle, and 11/33 for front & rear..?

They are also lightweight gears, mine still look new and I never use any gears cover, and where I drive, I think I am helping the companie to crush the rocks to make sand, loolll..!!!

Edit: that's nice, with only 6 gears you can make 8 differents ratio from 46 to 83 KP/H

i choose the gear to be able to use hpi 5b, 5t and mcd-redcat or kallee MT wheels. plus the wide range of ratios will work with any type of motor (torque or speed).

i am not sure but i believe the pinion-crown are correct. even if they are not the combo i am using is giving correct results for sure as you can see at 29-31-25-25

I like those gears. Martin, do you make these yourself or just sold a set? I wouldn't mind some myself for the rally. I have a 27 in mine and could easily run mt gearing flipped. 31/29/26/24 is too low and it tops out a bit fast. going to red loktite a bunch of setscrews tonight.

Have you tried 35/25 .............

I don't make it myself, I had bought it from a guy in U.K.

I bought several set to get the price as lower as possible and expecting to resell what I don't need, but it does not seem to have a market for it.

2 more tanks today and all good. well almost.

my plastic gear carrier started to have some slop where the middle shaft is but nothing that would create a problem yet. even with all the play and slop the gears still have no sign of wear. very happy with the result.

yes yes yes!!!

i really enjoy my rampage now. i even had a really nasty crash (full speed with a bloody pole) and i got away with only a front a arm. i replaced it with the one from the upgrade kit and got another tank after that.

martin i sure the market is there it's just gettin the word out. but by the way how much did youi say a set was and can you buy xtra individual gears

A set of 4 gears is between 95$ and 105$ usd (depend where you live) include shipping anywhere, I don't make any money on that, this is just to help people who want those gears.

Yes you can buy any individual gears you want.

They are expensive I know, but I'm not the owner and cannot control the price.
