Finally after a long wait I got myself a FG 4WD on-road car. My first challenge was to fit in a TS engine onto the chassis. Knew it would cause me a bit of a problem since the gear box was positioned at the TS engine's reed intake's area. These are the modifications I had to do in order for the engine to sit onto the chassis.

The reed intake was hitting onto this brace

Had to remove some material off it for clearance

Now the engine sits perfect!

Managed to complete my first tank. Will start to tune in and hopefully can capture some video of it running. Next task is to do a wicked paint job.. Hope to find some time to work on it this week. Will post the pictures of the progress..

Would appreciate if you guys can identify the weak areas of this car and advise on what needs to be changed. I would love to change to a better and hopefully a smaller air-filter. Guess this filter will hit onto the body shell. Any other option for the air-filter?

Cheers..

Thanks! I've had a Baja 5T for quite some time now. Going from a 2WD to a 4WD is a huge difference. The handling is so sharp. Would love to try it on a proper track..

Hi mate, why have you mounted the engine upright ? And not laying down so the air filter and carb are at the top, where there ment to be ?

Brad.

Hi Brad, the engine is in the standing position for the 4WD. Guess you are referring to the 2WD cars. In those the engines are in a tilted position with the carb facing upwards..

Been a while since I had any updates on my car. Well, finished my body shell a few weeks ago. Here are the pics..

Any of you guys using a 2 speed for the on-road FG? I'm thinking of trying a 2 speed gearing for mine. From the stock gearing, feel like trying 1 or 2 gears lower for the first gear and perhaps 2 or 3 gears taller for the second gearing. Would that work well? Or any other 2 speed combination that you guys would recommend? I would mostly play on parking lots and once in a while on proper track. Pls advise.. Thank you.

most don't run 2 speeds. the fg 2 speed kit comes with (iirc) 42/22 and 40/24, so it gives better low end and the same top end. now with the motor your running i doubt more bottom end would be needed, however i have no experience with a 4wd fg so i have a hard time saying.

thats a great looking car you have. I'm a sucker for the BMWs myself also. So what do you think of the 4wd? I've never driven FGs 4wd setup, always had the 2wd.

Thanks! I really like the controlling ability of the 4WD. I'm new to on-road, so I believe it's less forgiving for me to begin with a 4WD car.

What a sweet ride you have there!!! How does she run?

Thanks again! It runs really good. Very smooth and precise. Currently I'm using a TS 26cc engine. I might wanna try a 23cc tuned engine with the TPS ignition system.

Have any of you guys tried the TPS ignition system on your engines? Any feedback on it?

Have you seen that Black & Orange BMW on RC Universe website on the GiantScale thread under the Ultimate Parking lot basher post?? The guy who owns it did a video of it running a oval he was hitting speeds over 50mph according to the gps he had attached to the car. How fast do you think your car is on the top end with the current gearing you have?? And please how about a video of it running??

Nope I have not seen it. Mind posting the link of the video in here? I've not taken any videos of it running. Will soon be.
