I'm debating on
http://www.kingmotorrc.com/King_Motor_Buggy_30_5cc_4_BOLT_Gas_NYLON_KSRC_002T_p/km239wr.htm

or a used hpi baja 5bss

Can I please get help. I don't believe in brand bashing and I look at both price and sturdiness.

I want to be able to play without worrying about parts breakage. What is it I should look for in the KM that I listed. I have had hpi in the past and don't like the price tag but mine was almost bullet proof.

So what would I need to do out of the box thanks.

Okay I have the km 3.0 all aluminum and have been very happy. Most of my problems were do to me not going thru the buggy and loctiting every screw. I can not speak for other brands but from what I have read they all seem to have similar weaknesses. So I would look for the best deal. If you look you can probably find a used one with lots of upgrade parts in the same price range. Knowing what I know now that is what I would have done.

I go in the other direction. If this is your first, buying used runs the risk of buying a turd. My KM arrived with broken parts, but they were quickly replaced and I have been having a blast with it. I met a guy the other day with an HPI Baja and he was talking about how he was having to replace broken parts, so they all have weak points. From what I understand, KM has come a long way in the past few years on their buggies. In my area, WHEN a used one surfaced it was about $750-$800 used (and that was with the 23cc or 26cc engine). Look at your budget and let that decide. If you can find a used HPI in good condition for a good price and it checks out, go for it, but don't feel like you would get less buggy if your decision is to go KM.

Im definitly looking at new unless i can trade like 2-3 of my other vehicles for a used one, but like most i have to save a few dollars up, i live check to check while im putting my 2 sons thru college. I also like that KM would ship to my address since im military and currently stationed at camp casey south korea.

Thanks for helping me with my decision with this, i do have one 5th scale but its a redcat rampage mt so i am use to the motor problems that can arrise.

I've got about a gallon through mine and the only time it wouldn't start was when the plug was fouled. I yanked on that that thing for about an hour before giving up. I was advised to put in a new plug (being told that fouling was not uncommon during break-in). Did that and the thing started on the third pull. Thus far it runs great with no problems.
