well, ive had nothing but bad luck with this hobby, i had the guy i bought my rampage from, tune it for me, the next day it ran perfectly, for over 40 minutes, the day after that, it was cutting out every time id go from full speed to stop. So i took it to the hobby store for them to tune it, which he says he did and its running fine. So i took it out today, sounded extremely rich, ran for about 10 seconds, cut out. then i couldnt get it started again, the engine isnt flooded, i took the spark plug out, didnt have fuel on it, i put a rag over the top and pulled on the cord 4 times, still no fuel. Put a brand new spark plug in, still didnt work...

what else could stop the engine from turning over? I thought these gas engines were invincible!

check your coil gap and make sure the head bolts are tight. And you could put the carb to break in settings and tune it your self so you know what it is set at. Only other thing I can think of is check for an air leak. Hope this helps you get her going....

I actually have a vent on the gascap, the owner before had issues with the gas cap hole being to small, causing a suction, then it running way to lean. So there's a regular gas cap with this long rubber tube on it for venting. Now, the hobby store gave me this filter to put on the end so fuel doesn't pour out, and I think they tuned it BEFORE putting that on. So I thought maybe that was the problem, and took it off right away.

i actually bought it used off kijiji. the guy took good care of it, one of the type of people who uses it like once a week for 5 minutes. He doesn't mind looking at it if somethings wrong with it because he actually tunes rc cars for a hobby store, so he knows a little bit. but the thing is he lives real far away. I asked him what version it was and he didnt know, i was thinking version one because he had it for a year and a half, and bought it off a guy who had it for a while too.

if it helps any. i took a bit of the engine apart, and theres lots of black junk in behind the flywheel, so maybe theres a leak?

who's kijiji?? you shouldnt let anybody but a chosen few set your needles! hahah just kidding, um can you tell where the black "junk" came from?? my motor had a black rubber cylinder gasket that blew out and caused a big problem luckly i was standing right next to it, so i cut the motor right away before somthing major happened, Look and see where that black gunk came from then you should be on the road to fixing it!

You may want to remove the engine head bolts and put some locktite on them. I wouldn't recommend this with a Baja since they are a pain in the ass to work on but us Rampage owners have easy access to the engine. Might as well do it now. Doing it in the field would suck.

im not sure what kind of gasket, probably just what ever stock one came with it. The engine i have on my rampage isnt the stock one, and its a bit of a pain to get just the cylinder head off. i have to take the whole muffler off, the pull cord and all the plastic around the motor. JUST because, on the left screw that goes through my x-can, doesn't screw into the cylinder head, you gota screw it into a nut, and that nut blocks access to 1 of the 2 screws that holds ON the cylinder head. Its some fancy 30.5 cc motor from daves motors.
