New Aluminum gear case does not have lip. Is this the norm?

Amainhobbies is the new distributer for HPI in the US.

Daves is higher priced, but they only carry top shelf gear. TGN seems to be getting out of large scale stuff I find myself buying less and less from them.

IMG_5058.JPG IMG_5048.JPG You guys / girls are awesome.

I really appreciate the advice.

IMG_5063.JPG IMG_5069.JPG A few of my old rc cars.
I got them all ready so I can make a ad for them.
Gotta help fund the Rovan.

Got it and the diff does not fit into the carrier case.

Spoke with Steve at DDM and he said that they will not fit the Rovan.

I was able to work the bearing race with a light grinder, just used the grinder to spin the bearing and watched to make sure it did not stop spinning and to keep it level.
Finely got it to fit.
Spins over nice now.
Seems to have worked.
Fits nicely now.

well i never expected that....wonder y it won't fit...assumed it'd b a copy of the hpi/km one ..at least u sorted it now .

The Reason the Rovan differential would not fit into the TR carrier cover is because the Rovan Differential has a larger diameter bearings on either side of the diff.
Just like Steve from DDM said today "the Turtle Racing quick change transmission case is meant to be used only with HPI".

The Rovan 5B has a larger diameter Diff bearing which is a good thing. Large diameter ball bearing races means that the bearings do not have to turn as fast a small diameter race. This equates to longer life and less stress for the bearings.

Thumbs up once again to Rovan.

Guess this is another flaw that Rovan corrected when designing the Rovan 5B differential bearings.
Use a larger diameter bearing. ;);)

Luckily I was able to do a little in house machine work to get it to fit correctly.IMG_5169.JPG IMG_5170.JPG IMG_5171.JPG IMG_5172.JPG
