Well eventually just acquired a rolling chassis FG tourer.don't know what model it is but it looks ok.
Made a deal with a lad off ebay, nice bloke, for the billet mill I have just finished.
Pics soon (when I have the time)

J.

Just got the car and a bag of bits. Not too up on tourers so I'll have to suss where the bits go and lob an engine in.
The guy who I did the deal with has to be 100% sure that what he has off me is what he needs. As soon as I hear, I will start to put it together.

would that be a pair of your wide legged wellies james:lol::lol:

K....

Are you planning on doing any racing with the FG?

Have seen some serious bits of kit - Harm, Genius, Contrast and FG - flying around the UK largescale tracks.

There is the BRCA national and the WLSC championships running through the year for the tourers. Barnsley and Halifax are two of the main tracks used.

I really want one too, but will have to wait till next year. The MCD Rally cars are satisfying enough for the time being, me and my mates have took them on the tracks as well.

Major fun, and even with the best kit I'll never be good enough to compete against the likes of Dave Bowen and Ian Oddie!!!! But amazing to see them in action all the same.

Post up some pics when you get it put together :D

voo what size cc is your engine you have built up for it reason i ask is im thinking of trying the 29cc oddie in the on road just for a bit of fun lol

You've got to aim lower and practice like crazy, do that and be willing to learn everything you can and spend more time learning to set up your car than racing - it will come to you.

I'm a reasonable driver as it is, and the setting up/building up/maintenance side of things I can handle, understand and enjoy.

But shite, those saloon class cars are wickedly fast and yet are guided around the tracks with ease.

I am looking forward to next year. Am planning on pitching into GTS class - up to 26cc and pretty much any car bodyshell.

Between now and then will have some races with the MCD - they are a blast and worlds away from making circles in the dirt with my Baja!

I was wondering if James also had plans for his FG. Be a shame to 'waste' it on just car park bashing!

Do you race Mike?

unfortanatly car park bashing is all some are able to do mate due to no local tracks and the costs involved in racing i would love a go but for just now car park bashings as good as it gets mate but your 100% right its a waste of a car and its not being used to its max

my next body for sure i cant think of anything cooler than that spitfire mk11 escort all dressed up rally slag style drifting about with 4 spotlights bolted to the front and some trailing mud flaps yep thats living the dream right there guys

Oh,you dudes with tourers, what are the best, stickiest tyres?
J

ive found that A compound grp's on the rear and B compound grp's up front and that sticks well and belive it or not the a's are lasting longer than the c's that i use now and then as they just spin up but once warm the a's just grip

I've not raced on roads since 2009, I just do off road now. You'd go better with a 23cc in the touring car - ask the racers you meet 99% will use them. 26cc is for truck, F1's and off road cars where you need grunt rather than top end screaming horsepower like you do with a touring car.
