New engine build

Just got my new head from Daves,28.5cc,new crank case,good crank and a Lautey 3 shoe clutch......should be interesting.

don't know yet mate,probably the Leo,or the MT and take the ported out of the MT and put it in the pajero and take the pajero out and shove it in the baja and use the baja engine in the beetle and the beetle engine in the marder and strip the spare engine down for a re-ring.....simples!

Good question rick. Maybe the 28 will be a better balance between torque & top end rpm.

29-30 is in my opinion more for torque.A 28.5 is ,as Andy says ,a good balance between the two.

Engine mesh mod done and crank installed.

If you notice on the third photo,the crank gasket protrudes about 2mm,I cut this flush with a craft blade.

Note on picture No2,the arrow on the piston should point to the exhaust port.On picture No1 I always face the openings on the C-clips so they do not point sideways,this aids in keeping the clips retained.
When inserting the piston into the barrel I squirt a bit of WD 40 into the barrel as to ease the ring and stop scratches.

Two allen keys, flat screwdriver,pliers and a craft blade.

Sorted the carb out today and pulled it!................Fook!...it sounds sweet!
The rears were ballooning!..ha ha ..this is another cracker from me,vids when it's fitted.
