Hi badger..welcome to LSF mate, can't help you with that mate, as im an FG man, but i would run stock to start with then upgrade bit by bit and see what differece it makes.

hey Badger,

Welcome to the site and good choice in the MCD.My son and I each have a Baja 1000 and we love them.Currently we both run 29 cc CY's with stuffed cranks, stock gearing and silenced JetPro pipes and these MCD's fly.We also have 2 HPI Baja SS's that both run stock CY 26cc motors with silenced JetPro pipes. The MCD's kill the HPI's all around except where there are long straight aways and the HPI's start to pull away, the HPI's are great jumpers too..Maybe changing the C and D gear to 26 and 23 will give the MCD's the top end they need to keep up with the HPI's.There is no contest in handling and off line power....all wheel drive kicks ass.I can't comment on the quality of the Samba as I've never owned one but I will say that any decent pipe should be your first hop up followed by front aluminum shock forks. Also, make sure your fuel tank is vented and make sure you have droop stops installed and properly set for your control arms.If you have other questions, ask away and have fun.

Frank

Welcome matey, not sure on the gears you should choose but if you haven't already got a pipe then that alone will give you a good boost in performance. :)

thanks for all the reply's but allthough i am new to the forum i am not new to petrol/nitro cars its just that i am lead to believe that there are 15 different gear ratios for the mcd as i want to buy them in metal and they retail at about £60.00 a pair you can understand my dilema.

The 23 and 26t steel gears (replacing the 24 and 25t plastic ones) are the minimum you need along with 30 and 33t plastic ones.

I would try 30, 33, 23, 26 or 33, 30, 23, 33 for more speed and take it easy for the first 5 minutes as the plastic gears need to be bedded in.

Inaddition to venting the tank I would recommend installing the red HPI clutch spring and also cut out the side windows from the bodyshell as follows -

Enjoy your new toy!!!
