http://www.western-robotics.com I just recieved a new product for 5th scales. Western Robotics has been working on this kill switch for some time. It's called the Excalibur (ya I had a hand in naming it, I love that era and Excalibur was the ultimate protector).

It comes in a very nice case; plastic and metal. Seperate buzzer and light plug in the top, as it's also a battery meter and can handle up to 4s lipo input. selectable zero or 5 second engine kill delay (depending on radio failsafes). can be used with or without an aux channel to turn on/off. that will be handy for 2ch operation.

I'll get some pics and such but I have the prototype in hand and the production of finished kill switches will be silk screened and such. I have 4 days off so once we get some half decent weather I will get the semi out for some testing and video

I got the first prototype to test in my truck. I have a few radios to test with but they have been testing themselves. I am doing final run through testing this week before production happens. it's all pick and place machines, ovens, cnc etc so once production starts they will be happening.

I live 4 blocks from the warehouse and know the owner well. he was trying to sell me back a brushless heli I traded him long ago, today haha.

I asked him to make these long ago. I don't do much rc anymore aside from 5th on road. it has a couple dip switches on top... I still have to pull everything down and install it. finish reading the manual... I'll setup the tripod and get some pics shortly.

ok dip switch 1 is fr turning aux switching on and off. in the off position you kill engine with power.

dip switch 2 is for delay in kill function. 0s no delay before diabling kill switch... immediate enable/disable
5s adds a 5 second delay before you can disable the kill function after triggering. for radios with built in failsafes.

a table explaining light and buzzer functions, both on board and external leds. solid, flashing, long or short beeps. pretty cool, manual is easy to read and well laid out.

western robotics bec's for high power helis are well known, and their stuff is getting more well known. a main sells their stuff... among others. I am just one of the people that get to provide opinions on stuff. I mentioned what problems some kill switches had and how some worked with these radios but not others, what functions would be cool etc. the processor can be programmed in future to add other functions if need be. this kill switch is said to work with all radios... now I know we worked on a plain old failsafe for a long time together that worked with all radios, so the groundwork was done before to follow through here.

Closer inspection the case is all metal... tbh I am not sure what the Bumble Bee is. I still have an original of yours in my semi

case is 25mmx25mmx17mm

I have no idea what they are going to charge if anyone wonders, I just test stuff and give feedback, I have no financial interests. The owner was my heli trainer, how we met. His programming knowledge is pretty extensive. It's been in the works for a year anyway, well when he gets time to do rc stuff. cnc and robotics is his main stuff, and making pc boards and crap for other people. I toured the shop last year, pretty cool

It is a good looking case. But I was referring to the dip switch programming and the LED and buzzer outputs.
I have dealt with WR before. Nice guy, but the prices are usually high, and not much profit margin for the dealers. Plus some import costs since its coming from Canada.

I'd watch the claims about working with ALL radios. There are many radios that will never work with a kill switch, no matter what your programming skills are. Its like trying to play a Blu-Ray disc in an old CD boom box; the proper data just isn't there.

Thanks,
Kent

Of course, even when you make something idiot proof, they always build a better idiot... why do you think I am testing things LOL.

I don't think anyone is going to contest the master when it comes to kill switches Kent, but options are good. I worked with Jimmy on the remote glow starter, failsafe, bec... I think it's cool he actually asks for input and changes though.
