Well, I got my baja finally and it looks amazing. Unfortunately I think mine has a bad receiver, as it won't respond to the transmitter at all. The LED on the receiver stays red, and I have tried everything to sync it but nothing works. I contacted the seller, danlc4, and am waiting to hear back from him.

It will be a 2.4ghz set so you have to bind it 1st. Probably stating the obvious but have you done this?

that is pretty much what I did... I kept holding the button on the receiver while resetting modulation or whatever and it eventually synced up, light turned green and transmitter started working. BUT... right away I noticed the steering servo was doing funny stuff, twitching and making noise constantly, then it started smoking!! SO I shut it off, took it apart and the servo was cracked. I opened it up and a capacitor was blown on the circuitry, basically fried :(

Quite the roller coaster of emotions on that one. I contacted the seller again with the update. I'll see if he makes good on the servo. If not, I'm thinking of going to a Hitec 5755mg. Thought on this? From reading it sounds like I will need an adapter for it as it's smaller?

He sent me a nice one, with steel case and all, and a mount for the radio box because the new servo was slightly different on its bolt holes. Working great!! In the meantime, I've added headlights, a light controller, and a Killer Bee v2. The Killer Bee v2 isn't working though, and I am thinking it's because the stock receiver has a built-in failsafe that is defeating it. Anyway, here's some pictures.
I also moved the on/off switch to a more convenient location for me, right on top of the radio box.

I made a small hole in the body so I can press down and toggle the switch easily.

It also allowed me to run the cabling for headlight/Killer Bee through the old switch mount hole (which I will seal with silicone).

now,t the matter with k,m 2.4g tranny and receiver not the ones i use anyway, its the servos that are dodgy and can stick causing runaways etc,

nice lights clockwurk, i bought a set of those too, really bright!! i also bought a proline undertray, glad i saw where you mounted the on/off switch, i've been looking for various ideas for a position.

A bit of advise here,BIN the electrics, they are shite and put something decent in.

Aye, good advice. I'm going to upgrade the transmitter/receiver with a real make next time I put in an order. Any suggestions? I need one that works with my Killer Bee v2. For now, I have alloy skis/mounted paddle tires/dominator pipe on the way.

Well, I put on the Lunatik Alloy ski kit, paddle tires and the dominator pipe... the thing really rips, but I plowed it into a snowbank, and it completely thrashed the front end; bent a few alloy parts including one of the ski arms :(

Turns out it snapped the front bulkhead in 3 places too, got an alloy one on order.

But for that short time it was awesome!
