Picked up one of the new KV5TT Pro kits with the V3 axle on pre-order, just love the look of these things.

Planning to do a custom paint job, with some high-quality vinyl decals. Not a fan of the wraps, so I'm going to attempt to re-create a specific RedBull theme in paint and using vinyl where needed for logos and print.

So far I've picked up:
- VEKTA.5 BILLET ALUM HD REAR LOWER LINK MOUNT SET
- VEKTA.5 BILLET FRONT UPPER BRACE
- Billet Aluminum Front Uppers Arms with Heim Joint
- CVD Rear Driveshaft System
- VEKTA.5 METAL TRANSMISSION COVER
- WheelMan Designz Kraken Vekta.5 Trailing Arm Heim Joint Kit
- RCR brake upgrade
- Victory RC Kraken Vekta 32cc Exhaust Pipe
- ESP Modified & Race Ported Zenoah G340RC

I'll probably pick up a couple small upgrades between now and April when the kit is set to deliver, but that should just about cover the upgrades. I'll post up some photos later / as I have everything ready to go.

Any suggestions on good polycarbonate paint to match the RedBull colors? I know Tamiya has a specific RedBull blue color but it's a TS paint, not a polycarbonate paint.

Received the kit finally.

So far, it's pretty cool but parts fitment isn't great overall. A lot of little tinkering and some things fit loose, others way too tight. The slipper clutch components were so tight I had to sand them and use a vice and hammer to get the 50T spur on the shaft etc. Kraken thankfully is going to replace that part as the tolerances were way out.

Overall pretty sweet though but I can see why guys say they've sunk thousands of extra $ on upgrades. The front stock plastic diff case is terrible and crooked from the mould etc. and the transmission overall is so stiff it's ridiculous. The thing probably needs a Taylor 50 just to move it like a 32cc Zenoah should if the transmission was smoother. The slipper pad setup has no real business in a 4WD car IMO, as 4WD is locked anyways versus a center diff. I see Kraken has a "founders edition" that does away with the slipper clutch and tries to improve the brake pad setup.

Anyhow ... question, is it worth it to go with the Vertigo transmission? Is it smoother or just better looking?

Is it worth it to get one of the aluminum battery boxes, and full out aluminum front suspension? I’m sure it adds a bunch more weight as well

Has anyone installed fuel tubing on the front shock-shafts to act as a bumpstop to limit suspension down-travel? I have limit straps front and rear, but I've found the front tires don't tuck up under the body work on full compression up front. I would have to add a ton of camber to get the fronts to tuck under it feels like.

Odd ... setup issue, or is this just par for the course on this truck?

Looks phenomenal

Thanks black rain. Just trying to sort out a few last details before I fire her up for the first time. Excited to see to run, but probably will mostly be a 'shelf queen'

Just a heads up The V3 axles Fits VEKTA.5 or VEKTA.5E only. It is not suitable for KV5TT.

  1. Kraken founders addition V3 Currie Industries Inspired Rear Axle for the KV5TT That’s awesome that they are releasing it for that version of the 5tt truck I just hope they make it for the older version 5tt that would be a Plus.

The axle came with the kit … they’ve updated them. You can’t buy the new kits from anywhere else anymore, you can only get it direct through pre-order slots now annoyingly but that’s their new business model
