Hi all,

I am back into RC after about 10 years away and grabbed a 5T 2.0 as my electrics don't give the same fun as my nitros used too. I am just having some trouble getting it tuned. I am about through a gallon of gas but keep fouling plugs... Can someone point me to a good video on tuning these carbs?

I thought I had it dialed in on the last run I did as it didn't bog or seem flat up top from being lean but when I went to start it the next day I had fouled another plug... This is probably my 5th one so far. I did lean it a little just to see how it would act on this plug that just died and it clearly was to lean so I put it back to the settings I had prior. I am making small 1 Hr adjustments on the needles when tuning. It seems like the tune is good and I would leave it if it weren't for the fact I am ruining plugs every tank. Seems to run fine but then when I go to start it I can't get it to fire as soon as I drop in a new plug it starts first couple pulls.

I am using Motul 800 at 25:1 with 91 OCT No Eth fuel. I can't get any higher here.

Thanks for any help!

sounds like you got a brand new 5ive T 2.0, so the chance of dirty carb is out of the question. Fuel mixture is correct at 25 parts fuel, 1 part 2 cycle oil, double check you have that right...

Put the needles at factory setting and try again.

Since the car is new, i would imagine the carb bolts are tight but i would check it, including the bolts holding the isolator to the head.

can you show us a pic of the plugs? i don't worry about them unless they're not working. make sure not to lean it too much, you can cause damage. have you tried using the choke, messing with the carb, and the idle set screw? sometimes they don't like starting again for whatever weird reason. you broke it in properly, clean air filter, using ngk plugs, fuel lines and filter are ok? go through everything, check every system you can

Firstly, it's important to make sure you're using the right type of spark plug for your engine. Check your manual or with the manufacturer to ensure you're using the correct plug. Running the wrong plug can cause fouling or other issues.

When tuning the carburetor, it's important to make small adjustments and test them out before making further adjustments. It sounds like you're doing this already, which is good. However, if you're fouling plugs every tank, it's possible that your adjustments are too extreme or that you're not letting the engine warm up properly before running it.

As for video resources, there are many available on YouTube. I would recommend searching for "nitro engine tuning" or "RC car engine tuning" and watching a few videos from reputable sources. Some popular channels include RC Driver, Pro-Line Racing, and The RCNetwork.

this, much easier to tune and once done no need to change unless something else changes. ever get it sorted out?
