I just picked up a Marder with the 4wd upgrade, pipe, HPI wheel adptors and front cable brakes.. Great car and Supper fun... I just replaced all the bearings with sealed Boca Bearings... I need new rear lower wishbones and would like some alloy upgrades.. Whats the best alloys to get and from whom do I buy from??? I'm is the good'ole USA and not sure who to call for parts..

I will post PICS soon..

Thanks
Kyle

Hi Kyle.

Welcome to LSF.

You've mentioned you're from USA, but in the 'UserCP' section you can insert your location.

I like bling and also bash, but others are quite happy keeping the 'plastic bits', or at least until they break.
(Many don't change until something breaks, then upgrade as you break.)

Was it a Kamitiro kit or an FG conversion, or simply 4WD to start?

Alloy engine mounts - must have - keep your motor more steady - less wear on the gears.
If you've an alloy pinion, only consider plastic, Delrin or alloy spur. If either is steel, ensure the other is or it will get eaten alive!

Brace your radio tray and/or replace with an alloy of C/F tray.
Cable brakes require good setting up and a SOLID servo and mounting of same.

Welcome to the forum.
I also have a marder 4wd and its fannytastic :D The mechanics are very simple so maintenance is easy. FG plastics are also very durable so you don't really need to upgrade anything to ally unless you want the bling factor. Some will say its essential to have ally engine mounts but I haven't used these and the plastic mounts have lasted 5yrs so far!! Routine maintenance after each run should ensure everything is nice & tight & trust me this is time well spent for reliability. If you feel the need to upgrade try Hobbythek.......http://rc-car-online.de/shop/en-.html

Mine is running a 26.9cc DDM ported head kit with FG tuned pipe and has the layshaft tuning brake fitted. The rest is stock plastic and it absolutely flies!!

don't forget adding ally parts requires more power to achieve the same performance due to the extra weight!!

No disregard BTW to those who have ally bling machines, they look great and are a credit to their owners :cool2:

It was an FG kit / the only way I know that is I have all the old 2wd parts.. I broke a rear lower wishbone today and that's why I was asking about the alloy upgrades.. Currently it is all stock plastic and has "all" steel gears....

I had every part off this car and cleaned, the belt was soooo dirty and greasy.. Now after one day it's a mess!! I kinda knew the wishbone was bad (loose joints), today I rubbed the fense and striped out the foward joint..

I am making a carbon fiber radio tray on our CNC at work / the sample is laying in the one photo..

Looks good matey :cool2: I must say the HPI wheels suit the bug better than FG wheels. Need to get myself some adaptors!!

hi, nice looking marder, i like the wheels .The pipe should be a good one for the fg4wd, looks like the ddm torque pipe.
they are quite reliable and robust ( i have the 2wd version).
I use a tuned pipe so have abit more power then when it was standard ,i have broken a few small engine mounts and melted a plastic gearplate , other stock parts have held up to the high speed runs, jumping and cartwheeling lol..but even then ive only had to change to an alloy gear plate, alloy small and large engine mounts, i have alloy diff holders but the plactic items are holding up fine and want to keep weight to a minimum.
overall a good buggy.

happy bashing/racing..
