Have an MT with a 32cc CY motor and I believe it to be dying. It hasn't really run worth a $%#& and the last time I had it out it was running VERY rough. I haven't been satisfied with the performance/reliability since day-one of break-in.

If I were to buy a new gas motor for this thing, what should I get? It does't have to be huge or even as big I have now. My only non-negotiable is that it bolt-up directly/easily to what I've got already. I don't want to have to change-out a whole bunch of auxiliary stuff on it...

You have a heavy truck. Torque is what you are looking for then you can look for top speed with a good pipe. Personal recommendation base on the weight reliability and performance of mine, a G320RC stock ($299). I'm sure others will shine in.

Item# bb125d from DDM Racing?

+1 on g320

If you have the little extra get the obr prostock or the ported head ddm motor. G320 now are very reliable in my experience and the ported head give it a little extra kick. Just my experience. This will be asked and debated over and over like oil fuel and tires.

What issues are you having with the engine? How many gallons have you put through it? Could be as simple as tuning, carb replacement, or adding a pipe. You don't have to buy an engine if you don't really need it. Better to learn this stuff on a stock engine, than spend a wad on a new engine and have the same issues.

Previous CY 32cc engine pictures...Finally had some time to dedicate to this. I broke-open the engine to take a look at the guts. I've attached some pictures below and wanted to get thoughts. I'm no ASE-certified mechanic by far but these pix don't look like a positive thing...

Looks like the ring came apart...that piston is toast ! How does the inside of the head look?
Don't have a picture of it, but it looks bad enough (scoring on the inside etc?) to where I wouldn't be comfortable using it.

looking at pics looks as debris in combustion chamber, carbon fragmentation, but deposits are not really there. real sandblast look, hinting toward air filtration failure or air leak at filter. running without filter or de-laminated cartridge.

basically sucking dirt kinda what it looks like.

--->OBR prostock /990 wt/ pipe is great start

a head kit/ pipe and carb is good alternative but case needs to be CLEAN

AND good basic air filter with a sock!

So what makes me bristle here about this is that I've done everything right with this truck. Broke it in well, have NEVER run it without an air filter, used the right ratio of oil/gas and this happens. No kidding, I babied this truck up until it began showing the behavior I;ve described here.

I haven't looked on the RedCat Rampage website for this information, curious as to if there is some sort of warranty on this motor? May be an asinine question given this is, for all intents and purposes, a toy. Anyone know?

You have leaned the engine too far. There is no warranty for that. Start with the g320 or any CY30.5 and get down experience with tuning. Then move into the more expensive modded engines.

Not buying at all that I've caused this through mis-use. I've kept the tank at least always half-full AND adjusted the carb to be slightly rich AND mixed the gas slightly rich also. I've been super-SKEERT to run the tank low or have it run lean as what I've read on the Forum here, that is a NO BUENO kinda thing. Common-sense would dictate this as well, my experience with 2-cycle blowers, hedge clippers and string trimmers has served me well.

Adios Redcat MT v3, hardly knew ya. You'll be going to Craigslist for whatever $'s your POS broke-azz can bring.

You posted a thread so others can help you and end like this??????? What was the point? Things can happens whether it's your fault or not. It's part of the hobby wherever you go, whatever 1/5th scale you get.

Frustration is understandable but common... statement like the one you made are a different low.

End of irritation, back to normal! ;)
