Me olde mate voo2 has got hold of a Pajero fibre shell and he's been persuaded to take a mould of it.
we can all have 1 then.

as you can see we've a way to go yet to transform it to fit the MT but its sits on the Marder/Beetle prefectly, voo2 has just pinged me to say its now paint free and ready for the rub down.

anyone any tips on how to get a nice clean finish on the mould.
 
A few pictures after a few hours work taking the paint off with a craft knife blade.Just needs a bit of a rub down and fill any imperfections in.

Yeah they do look good,I found this one in a industrial unit that fits car radios.When i was talking to the bloke about my car alarm(needed fixing) we some how got on the subject of RC cars and he said he had a few upstairs,so we went up and it was like an Aladins cave,there were Align TREX heli's there Zen powered boats,FG tourer and tons of 10th scale cars and parts.I just happened to notice the Pajero shell under a pile of shite and asked if he wanted shut.He said everything was going and named his price,so I bought the shell in three parts ( front half,rear and bumper and also the under tray.
It was in a bit of a state and had been home cast off the original but its still good with minimal scratches/dents on it.
I'll keep you posted on the project.

for smooth a reverse mold, done from inside. mold release wax, put the cloth and resin then a product called peel and stick. it lets the excess resin through and you just squeegee it off. when dry it peels off. other wise you will have to do a finish coat to the outside. I have never tried spraying resin but imagine it could be done with the right settings. I just wouldn't want to use an expensive gun in case it gummed up
 
well i was wondering about what enine to put in the Pajero project and this came up on Ebay UK........This will be interesting to say the least! :)

Well here goes,big E (jackobyte) doesn't know this yet but I'm starting the " Pajero project" tomorrow.
There are three of us on this project and the name of the game is to make a good enough mold to sell the casts on ebay. We are all going to have one and I think we will be going for the emergency services theme....Ambulance,fire,police and lifeboat.
I think the first few will be disastrous but they are our shells to bash with and hopefully we will improve....but......there will be a few changes to my "Emergency service" vehicle....not saying yet. Here is our body to build off plus all(most) of the kit.

are you going to fill the shell with something like plaster of paris? I was playing with vac forming a bit a while back but smaller scale stuff. a couple molds we did had to be revamped a couple times because the lexan would fold in around bumpers and such then we couldn't get the mold out when done. at least one end needs to be smooth then ;)
