Just received from Dan today, however my receiver does not seem to recognize my km g3 controller. Both receiver and controller power on, but throttle or gas input does nothing. Is there something simple I'm missing? I have only charged the battery pack about an hour, but I'm thinking the servos should at least move a little. Awesome looking truck, but this is a little disapointing to say the least.

Thanks again guys...seriously hate being a noob at this. Glad y'all didn't crush me like so many other forums tend to do. I'm sure I'll have many more questions...haha

Feel free to ask any questions you want. Have you read through the threads here? There are a couple things you need to do before running your truck.

For example:

-Check/adjust gear mesh (Mine was too tight).
-Oil the air filter (absolutely needed).
-25:1 - 30:1 fuel/oil mixture (don't stray from this).
-Break in the engine. It's not a weed eater (this makes the difference between a fast snappy easy to start motor, and a pig).

Follow this procedure, these guys know:

What type of oil for the air filter? As far as snappiness, does the motor get noticeably snappier after a couple tanks, because I am used to my hpi savage x 4.6...that thing is rather quick to top end, whereas my km t1000 seems a little more "sluggish" if you will. Do these motors generally need much tuning or are they pretty close from the shop? Thanks again for all the help!

I use HPI filter oil. It's pretty tacky. You can get it from any local hobby shop. Or you can get filter oil from any motorcycle shop. It's not just oil, it's like a glue almost. It's designed to grab and hold the dirt. It's pretty sticky.

These gas motors, especially stock (and especially the lower grade stuff like KM), don't accelerate like nitros. Mostly because of the weight of the vehicle itself. What I was referring to though, is as a motor wears down (ring wear) and loses compression, it becomes more sluggish off the line, weaker top end speed, harder to start, and may have idling problems. Assuming you have good compression, yes the motor will become snappier as it wears in, but if you're looking for nitro type acceleration, you may want to look at some of the upgrade motors through DDM or OBR. I just installed a G290RC Zenoah in my T1000 and am quite surprised at the difference in power. It's only rated at 1/2 hp more, but it seems to be a bigger difference than that. It's got a "nitro" type feel to it now, and it's a proven durable/reliable 4 bolt Zenoah.

cant remember where i got it, but i have a spray can s of both filter cleaner and oil designed for foam air filters, ive used it couple times now, is easier to deal with cleaning the filter, and tons easier applying the oil. so far, its worked really well, i also have a outer wear cover over it too, im using the stock filter setup, with the new filter adaptor thats a v stack, 45 degree angled one from Phatdads. i think i got the spray cans from DDM but not sure, been awhile since i got them.

My HPI filter oil is in a spray can as well. It wasn't cheap, but it's better than wiping out a motor. You'd be surprised at how much crap gets through those filters when they're not oiled.
