I have a dbxle. And a gas Vesla.

You’re for sure wanting to stay electric.

They’re both very different. 4x4 and rwd.

My honest opinion get a hpi baja flux. Lots of parts available.

Vesla still very new and not catching on real good.

How's the reliability of the vesla so far?

I don't really like HPI because the local distributor offers near zero support and service.
the shop only has 1 person who knows nothing and does nothing besides sitting there watching tv and collecting money.

No offense, but if you need to rely on your local dealer 1/5 scale probably isn't for you. It's a niche of a niche. Ordering parts online and fixing them yourself is pretty much std for us. I have a few hobby shops not far from me, and besides normal smaller things they don't stock much of anything for 1/5 scale. Heck the new owner on the closest won't give me the time of day if I mention parts, 5ive t, baja, or anything kraken. (He also get non of my money anymore.)

To your original question, you picked one platform thats knows to have drive train issues (dbxl) and the other is very new and not all that impressive(vesla). Mostly the reason i didnt reply yesterday.
Buying a baja flux would actually be the smart choice vs either other model you have listed.

I’m also in the same camp when it comes to local hobby shops, mine shut down years ago and didn’t support 1/5 scale anyway.

To the OP there’s a wealth of knowledge on here and it’s easy enough to order parts online. If it was my money would go on a baja. Poor design on the dbxl, although never had a vesla.

I don't rely on any hobby shops at all. I am well aware this is a DIY hobby, learn to fix thsi and that. the LHS will just tell you if it's there, it's there, otherwise they don't have it (as in they have no idea whether they even have it in the first place). so yeah don't worry, I actually order most of my things online because of this. Saves me the trouble of driving down and making a wasted trip.

I don't understand all the hate for the Losi DBXL-E 2.0. It is fast, handles great, and is awesome. Just like any other RTR there are a few things that need tweaking. The stock tires don't last very long, so I put the DDM Mad Max Giant Knobs on. Mine was very durable. I even jumped it a bunch and had no issues. It is a great rig and looks awesome while you drive it! If you are looking for electric, I say go for the DBXL-E 2.0.

So I'm confused, you said you didn't want an hpi because you local dealer didn't have anything in stock. But now you say you don't use them anyway, so what the problem with the hpi Flux?
i had bad experience with another HPI model. I am not keen on another HPI veh. That model is just sitting there missing a part that is impossible to find or find an alternative for.

It’s not bad. But there is better stuff.

Hpi was gone for a while but they’re back now.

I had that issue with the diff in my savage xl. Was a shame, but it's up and going again. No reason not to get a baja though, you can build one without any stock parts and most end up tossing 3/4 of the stock parts when they upgrade anyway.

you'll probably have to find parts online, lol it's a part of the hobby to have to wait 3-5 days between runnings. ebay is the key, should have everything you need, be sure to use closest to me filter. i would make sure you can get parts for the vesla before buying it. you know you will be able to find parts for the dbxl. i don't know anything about the vesla but know the dbxl is a good truck. do not do the hpi. the design is positively ancient, the car is weak. it's also 2wd, which is slower.
