So.....

I took out my new 5ive-T bone stock with only upgrades were a Killer Rc kill switch and aluminum chassis braces. Breaking it in went swimmingly had a absolute blast... When I inspected the rig when I got home I realized I lost a screw no biggie and it looks like a small rock/flywheel fin or was shot through the plastic engine shroud okay I guess things happen. I promptly ordered the Outerwears for the whole truck. Now second time out had a absolute blast again until the end all the sudden it sounded like there was another rock in the flywheel it was a flywheel fin breaking off and shredded the flywheel one of the fins jammed and crashed the motor. Okay well *uck ... I ordered the lightened lightened flywheel from daves installed and was back running again now the problem is I cannot for the life of me get the engine to stay cool like really hot telemetry is accurate withing 10 degree's. I have tore down again inspected the flywheel install everything is good. I have run this thing maybe five times and it has been one problem after another. Can you guys please offer some suggestions. Oh I also installed dirt skirts wondering if that could be the issue it seals the bottom off so dust and crap can't get in thus reducing airflow if this was a issue I would think people with Penta body would have same issue. Anyways any and all feedback is appreciated.

Lightened flywheel = less airflow to engine. Less airflow = hotter engine.

I 100% agree this could be the issue just find it hard to believe that it would cause that much more heat based on the fact I know some people running the Cy lightened flywheel. Anyways I'm going to order a stock flywheel and see what happens.

Apparently it lessens the resistance thus allowing you to get up to speed faster. To be 100% with you it was cheaper that day at Dave's I was trying to save a buck or 2 as you know this Fifth Scale thing can be expensive.

Learn something new everyday thanks. Is the engine running warmer/hot a common issue when running a lightened flywheel? -Sry if I side tracked this thread any-

Yes and no it just depends on how it's done I have one that looks like a bow tie and it's the lightest I've seen and it runs hot because all the air fins are gone
I've seen one with just the fins cut down to half the size
And there's one with holes drilled in between the fins
But yes they should run hoter if it was me I'd put a small fan that runs off battery to help and put it on a third Chanel to turn on and off

The one I have is a stock CY flywheel and all the fins are cut in half.
