I've had an MT for a year now and I've got quite a few mods on it. I love it so much that just bought an XB. I've got a CPI on the MT and I'm getting A jet pro side mount for the XB. Plenty of info on the pipes what do you guys recommend for up grading the intake/air filter? I will have 990 carbs on both original CY 30 cc engines. Just need a little help picking out the air filters.... Any info would be appreciated.

It's always nice to get a K&N or K&N-type air filter, but BE CAREFUL.

If you're on-road, or in a clean environment, it's fine, but if you're in a dusty off-road environment, then a decent foam filter and/or additional pre-filters and 'Outerwears' covers are an absolute MUST HAVE, to save any fine debris and dust getting into the engine.

Some people will put some grease on the end of the outer filter to seal it against air filter sleeve. Tgn outer filter with stock inner filter works best. IMO I'd stay away from k&n as I've heard bad news of dirt getting past that filter and destroying the engine. No dis intended for those who use k&n.

This is a pic showing how much grit has passed through a K&N style filter on a project car I bought. Compression on the engine was very low probably related to the ingress of shite.......

Im going to that advise and stay away for the K & n. Had a problem with one of those filters on my motorcycle aswell. Thanks for the info....

by the looks of the filter , when was the last time it was serviced? it looks real bad, i have always used a k/n style and never had any issues that everyone talks about, but then again after every run i do service my filters

if you run a k+n in summer in dusty conditions it'll take about 10mins before your motor dies...been there done that...was a new oiled k+n with outerwears... bull dust passed thru both and wrecked a new motor in short order....live and learn
hpi for me

always have ran a k/n type, ran it on dusty dirt roads as well as grass, and pavements, on all my r/c,nitro and gas never had engine problems that i hear about, my baja's have them now i thru a outwares on them just for the leaves and grass, even ran in the rain and snow, but like i said i service my filters every after every run day, wash, rinse, dry and oil, thats the process that works for me,
we all have what works best for each us.
