well, My ESP 27.2 two bolt is pulling 18/56 and 19/55 in most cases without much worry.
ive ran the GBE SB, Rear Dom, CPI BB and now the VRC Side unsilenced non pro pipe and 19/55 is no worry with the current combo.

if you have too much low end, and/or you top out on RPMs right away, gear it up

@ Timmah,

So if my stock set up (17 pinion, 57 spur) is giving too much low end power, popping wheelies without any control, do you recommend going straight to a 19 pinion 55 spur? or should i go 1 by 1 and try 18 pinion, 56 spur?

in other words, what is the logic, rational etc. in determining the correct gear ratio...im totally confused.

Please explain if you can.

thank you again.

I personally run 19/55 all the time...it is like the stock
17/57 for my 27.2 just a all around good starting point.
Although my 27.2 is a TS 34mm Headkit on a ONEILL
BROTHERS full/race Zen head..and CYcase's.
I love that motor..can't find another one or I would have
two.

yes you are correct in that line of thinking.

If you pulling wheelies off the line and/or out of the corner, or just loosing traction and spinning out, then yes, gear it up. i would go to the 18/56 first, then the 19/55 if the 18/56 is still too much.
