newb to 1/5 scale ????

Hello to all! i have been in the rc game for a long time but recently just bought my first 1/5, a firehammer mt. well i have some questions that my sound stupid but im new to this. when every says FG or FG parts what does that mean? is the firehammer mt a clone of an fg or something? and also since theyeve been discontinued (wich sux) what other brands have interchangable parts. were is a good store to buy upgrades online? any help would be great thanks. by the way i am haveing great luck with the mt no broken parts everything going great so fare only on second tank so we will see
 
The original firehammer buugy was a clone of the FG Marder. Most of the FG parts will fit the firehammer. Then duratrax came out with a Firehammer MT. There are a few different parts from the two trucks. There is a site that shows which parts are compatible between the firehammer and the FG. There will still be parts for a while from duratrax and there are other companies selling clones. One web site you can check out is www.oversizerc.com . I have not bought anything from them but you can ask around. I buy parts from my LHS and from ebay. I have a good supply of parts on hand.
 
Welcome to the forum. Lots of info here on the Firehammer and clones! The Firehammer MT is a Smartech Bigfoot just rebadged as a Firehammer MT.

I've heard bad things about oversizerc.com. Let us know where you are from and we can steer you to some good places.

Remember the Firehammer MT has a few different parts from the buggy but 80% of them are the same.

Thanks to all who have replyed! i live in houston TX, and purchsed my MT from the local hobby shop were i used to get my glow engine nitro stuff (wich i will most likely never use again since i got the MT.) ill post some pics of asap thanks for all the info guys!!

got it tuned according do that, running great, since its a two stroke should i be seeing some blue smoke coming out of exhaust? i am seeing none, is that i sign of running to lean? don't wanna burn it up!!
 
Pull the spark plug and look to see what color it is. If it's black, it's rich, if its gray or white, it's too lean, if it's brown, it's perfect!

In general, if you are running a high quality synthetic oil, it probably won't smoke too much when it gets warmed up. My truck only smokes for about 2 minutes or less, and my carb is always rich.. (Black plug)

thats on the money with what mine does, smokes till it warms up, thanks ill check plug again
