Hi Guys
New to the forum. Built a Baja over the last couple of years believe it or not. Just never really used it. Now it’s balls to the walls with this virus. Anyway have the new IRC big bore shocks. Watched videos searched forums I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong. So 40wt losi oil. Filled shock housing cycled shafts all air bubbles gone. Cap on and if I try to compress the shock basically it’s gonna empty the whole cylinders worth of oil when compressed through bleeder hole. So how do I bleed this thing without draining all the oil. I did notice which cap off I can bring the shock to above an 1/2 inch compression the oil just will over flow no matter how slowly I compress it. As if it will not drain through the diaphragm holes. And with bleeder cap screw down it’s like shock is hydro locked.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!
Scott

This is how I do it.
Fill it up with fluid with the shock fully extended. Get the air out. Put the cap on. Take the bleeder screw out push up till fluid just starts to come out. Put the plug in. Run the shock up and down a bit and make sure it works... seems to work for me, at least on 5ive t shocks. Ymmv

Thats what I have been doing no luck. all 4 locked up with no movement. Cant see 40wt being too thick for the diaphragms. Such a basic thing, cant see whats wrong...smh
Also when I compress it. It barely moves 1/4 on an inch and the oil is pouring out. No way can I fully compress the shock with the cap on and bleeder open like fast eddy says to do.

Hmm, I've never worried about full compression when I'm getting the air out, just that fluid comes up to the bleeder hole. Then stick the bleeder plug back in. I also run 45wt so 40wt should be ok. Someone else will chime in on how they do it.

I think I got it now. just wasnt expecting so much fluid to come out. slight squish sound doesn't rebound out but sucks in 1/2 inch at the bottom. any where else in the travel it just stays where I put it. I think I got it now
Thanks.

how far are you filling the shock up? Almost sounds like you have to much oil in the shock before your putting the cap on. Don't quote me on this but I think I was 1/2 below the threads . It's been a while since changing the oil in my IRC's. As mentioned you do loose a little oil but it shouldn't be that much.

i was filling to the top then attaching the cap. I did it again but just pushed the piston up till fully compressed and a lot came out. Didnt realize they need space. so what happens to that available space when bleed, under a vaccuum then? seems to be working now though. All mounted!
