I'm sure it's all been said a thousand times before, but I'm lazy, impatient or both!! :devil2:

I've just simultaneously fitted a conical-shaped K&N type filter, PLUS a DDM high speed Dominator exhaust - SUPER WICKED !!

I use as was recommended to me, 32:1 on a 'lightly used, perhaps 6 runs' G260RC, and it picks up great, reacts immediately, and TAKES OFF, but with a little smoke.

I have not touched the settings, basically as I haven't done so on these engines before and also as it appears to run so well. What changes should be typically required if / when the filter AND exhaust is changed as I have done, just from bog standard ?
Thanks.

Check your spark color. That will help you in your settings.
The K&N style are more used in on road due to the amount of light dirt they will allow in your carb. I recommend not using it but, others like them and so be it. When you change air in take the more air allowed in leaner it will mix. Less air richer the mix.:)

atom,
32:1 is ok, I personally prefer 25:1.. Use a synthetic blend oil like castrol for 2 stroke motors.

+1 on what BTB said with the plug color.

I just bought an on-road myself and the engine sounded and ran well so i didn't bother much with the needle settings... If the plug is a good color, i leave it alone, if it's white it's too lean and black is too rich...

Thanks Chris and everyone.
With a little patience, logic is great.

I'm not going too deep into bush, just what's regularly cut outside the house - cuttings disappear quickly also; birds or something and don't see much grass on the trucks unless I run just after it's been cut, obviously!

Brad of DDM pointed me to where I should have looked in the first place, the Zenoah guide. This states L 1.25 +/-0.5, H 1.375 +/-0.5.
It wasn't easy to start, it SEEMED very powerful but bogged slightly on initial acceleration, and was a tad smokey.
When I removed the plug, it was black. L was ~1.6-1.7, and H the same.
It's obviously rich (or the plug's finished or both) and I leaned to FACTORY +1/8. I've LEANED from what it was, but made a little richer than factory normal, just in case that's for the 32:1.
Brad said use 25:1. You guys say 32:1's fine. I'll continue with that.
I'm using Castrol synthetic 2-stroke and pump unleaded 2 star.

It's 23:20, so a bit late to fire this beast up in the house, with a Dominator pipe on!! I'll see tomorrow!
Thanks,
Alan.

I have a FG MT with a ESP 30.5cc and a Dom Pipe High End and i used to run 32:1 and the motor always ran hot and didnt have much smoke. One day running it bogged down and shut off. It had over heated on a normal day and never was the same power after that. Now with this brand new fully ported motor, I always run thick 20:1 Ams Oil Sabre. It has a cool blue color to it like a nitro color. It never hurts to have the extra oil and now it runs way COOLER. I didnt see any loss of power when i added the extra oil. All the boat guys run wide open throttle all the time and they run 10:1 from what I hear.

Atom,
Next time you fill your gas can at the station, put 25:1... Like Hills said it will run cooler and you get the piece of mind...The oil you use is great, that is the same one i get and it's been fine for my past 4 motors i've owned.
It's also a good idea like you said to keep it a little on the rich side, that way you don't get a lean seizure which really sucks BTW..
