hey guys, i just got a used firehammer mt today... are they basically a clone of the fg marder but with a truck body??? will any fg body work on it?? can the fg marder 4wd kit work on it?? also i live in michigan, where is a good place to order hop up parts, like metal gears, engine upgrades, diff upgrades??

what thick diff gear should i put in it?? also i read something a while ago that someone converted a fg marder to the fg buggy?? could that be done with a firehammer since its a clone????

You will spend to much money to try and convert the firehammer into a Fg Marder buggy
You would be better off to just save up and buy a Fg buggy.....To get you even close will be $2000 bucks.......Slawhammer

Hi and welcome to LSF.

Thw best members to speak to about this are Slawhammer, Trip and Pipeous as they all have the firehammer.

To get a marder body to fit, i would think you would have to get an FG chassie as it is wedge shaped and the firehammer is square but from there i would not know what else you would need...

I have had both firehammer and now an mt. the mt wheelbase is way longer. you will need the mt 4wd kit if you go that way.

I just bought all my parts from tower hobbies. surprised how cheap they are tbh. they sell some blue bling stuff as well.

I don't know who said fg gears don't work but today at the track I stripped out a spur carrier. put a firehammer plastic one on (ordered an extra since it was under $5) and stripped out the pinion. I didn't have a spare 18 so I snagged the metal one off my semi's 2 speed and was back out running

turf the shocks. firehammer shocks suck. I started the day with one empty (I used 6k dif fluid too) and within a few mins my second shock was empty. absolute junk shocks.

I love the truck. motor is a bit sluggish for the weight but parts are so cheap I don't care if something breaks and very easy to work on.

the firehammer mt front end is a bit different from the fg mt. the firehammer uses the same bulkhead as my on road fg, and the arms have a swoop, fg are straight. all in all, most fg parts fit

The firehammer is the clone of the FG Marder...1of the better clone's made...
My suggestion before you say you want or would like to do for your firehammer is to read
my thread..New to the 1/5 Rc world..and every thing in the firehammer section.....
There are some mods you need to do first,,,before you do other things you want to do..
There are others in the forum with firehammer's as well...But I have maybe done more work and have more money in my firehammer with upgrades.....You will find lots of good
information....To get your firehammer in decent shape you will spend 500 to 900 bucks
these 1/5 scales are not cheap.....I have had my firehammer apart maybe 10 times...
for up grades....I am hard on my firehammer...run it hard...yes things will break...
I push it too the limit..I want too see what will be needed to make it a better RC Unit...
All depends how much you are willing to spend ......Slawhammer

I too am in Michigan, what part are you in? I am in Jackson, a piss-hole half way between Lansing and Ann Arbor.

What kind of body are you looking for? Truck or buggy?

Yes you can convert the Firehammer to FG, but as Slawhammer said... It isn't cheap!

Let us know what you are wanting to do, we can help!!

Hey Super, I have an FG M/T and Meli has a HobbyPro Mutilator 6  But I guess you could call it a Firehammer, Marder-6  It's kind of a hybrid!

i live in livonia,mi trip....

as for all the help, thanx guys. right now ima get pre filters, the fg gas tank, metal gears and an fg diff to start. then ima get a futaba faast 2.4 system and the kill switch

when you get the Fg Gas tank complete..comes with the fuel lines..you still need the bracket for that tank..to mount it too the firehammer..It will mount in the same mount holes...If you get the FG8484 diff case..you can use every thing from the firehammer for the internal gears & the inboard drive cups...dog bones plus the outer drive cups...
It all sounds good for what your going to do.....
You need to do the engine screen mod....I would suggest also the chassie mod for flexing....that will help the rear end..and save your gears...less expence there....
leave the control arms plastic...there like less that 5 bucks a set..upper or lower...
as you see ther are good people here to help ya out.......Slawhammer

Firehammer tanks are 7 bucks from Tower... They work, but the vent line kinda sux... But they are cheaper than the FG!

As far as metal gears, replace the pinion with a steel 18 tooth FG, but leave the spur gear plastic! It's alot cheaper to replace a 10 dollar gear, than to replace 100 bucks worth of diff gears and dog bones... Keep a weak link!

The ole lady's from Farmington and we are out there all the time. Maybe we could have a get-together?

You have a problem if you miss match gears...you have to use 1 or the other....
use firehammer together or Fg together.....The cut on the 2 different gears are different
..You may get away with a steel pinion on the clutch bell & plastic on the spur different..
....Slawhammer

I dunno man, I pulled the pinion off my fg and put on with the plastic spur and ran until my tank spooged fuel all over the place lol. unless the previous owner had put fg spur on or the shenghai tq is a closer match to fg... I didn't try the firehammer spur nib so I will do some part swapping tonight to check that out.... I got a box of gears from mooman when I got the 2 speed. I compared the plastic to the metal for size. I even wrote the number of teeth on each with a felt marker, but it could have been a 19 as well. the mt has the gear cover so have to pull it to see. time for work now so it'll have to wait. I have the option of doing it anytime I want this week, but it's cool outside for a change and this 1980 chev truck is black. man I do a lot of black vehicles
