Anyone have any hand son experience on the magnum yet from OBR? thinking of getting one but would like to know what difference (if any!?) it is to the Taylor V2 Reed?

cheers!

I have not had any OBR engines. However, I do have 2 Taylor engines. One is a 35cc V2 reed; another is the Taylor 80 Supreme (to be installed in my Raminator). I have not installed the 80 Supreme yet but I can say the quality feels amazing on the Taylor engines. The 35cc V2 is currently in my HPI Baja 5b and I’ve never had any issues with it. It also has great power.

Hi buddy!

Yeh i have the Taylor V2 reed, im happy with it, although i did have an issue with it which mike form Taylor sorted for me (the resin failed on the reed valve so it became loose!) but its now running spot on.

But ive been looking up on the obr magnum, i sent obr an email as i don't like the red colour of it (i have ocd! and my build is all silver/black!!) they said they can do it black/silver no problems & ive also asked them to tweak the engine so it provides more torque which they said they can do.

I want more torque as the Taylor V2 reed does struggle a little on the low end as my dibby is 90% alloy so pretty heavy! But i was hoping someone might have already bought a magnum that can give me some feedback about it.

Ive also heard mixed reviews regarding obr engine (ive never owned one) some say theyre great, others say the opposite! ..a friend of mine also told me that he had an obr which was great when running, but the TR crank case cracked after a few months! :(

I have both, 2 taylor 35 reeds and an OBR 35.7, but these have only seen light a couple of times. These just sit in the same boxes it arrived in. I do have other OBR engines as well.

As far as the OBR/TR crankcase cracking, I'm sure those were cracking on the flywheel portion. I also bet those were only cracking on the Baja platform. Since the engine itself was designed to be part of the structural bracing of the chassis. I have yet to see these cases crack on the 5ive platforms. Also, these cases were designed to be able to have these portions be able to be replaced since many were experiencing the same cracking on the original Zenoah cases.
