I just ordered one of these from amain hobbies. impulse deal. we have indoor electric racing going and I was going to race my Slash and dirt bike, but while filling my shopping cart with new tires, rpm goodies, body, xtreme low cog chassis etc I had come to over $200 in upgrades... then I thought, hmm what are kits worth? the ofna was 269 and with discount code I got $25 off... (parts would only get 12.50 off since just under)... so I deleted my cart and popped a new rc in hehe..

I posted my slash for sale locally for super cheap as a roller to get another person out and sold in about 15 mins...

these 4wd sc's will be a lot of fun. and the ofna comes with enough decent stuff to make it competitive out of the box. lots of early test vids out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEyG2kj6uW4&feature=player_embedded here's one

Nice looking truck.........sure looks quick enough.....be good to see how you get on with it.
Maybe do a full right up after you get it.

should be here in the next day or 2, paid for ups air... ya impatient. $44 shipping hehe

I like 4wd. I see the good guys locally have all ordered either the slash 4x4, slash platinum, hyper 10 or the jammin. should be a good mix. I look forward to pressing some of those hardcores (I never raced at all this year with the little ones). and I've had the hyper 8th buggies and they were tough. I assume these will fall into the same category. And I feel dirty owning a traxxas for some reason lol

I don't mind what make it is.......its all to much of a status symbol if you ask me.....but the 1/8th buggies were a handfull thats for sure.
The 4wd helps loads but they were that quick you had to think 3seconds in front of yourself lol

I raced 8th buggy for most of my time racing. we only had 10th racing when I started. I bought an 8th scale and there was nowhere to race, so I started a track (well I put my name on a list to help and because I had built a track somewhere else I kind of got appointed hehe). was always my favourite class. the f1 of off roads. I tried 10th 4wd again last year but the tracks here are more inclined to 8th scales. the slashes and slayers could handle the tracks well though...

I don't consider Ofna a status thing, I just consider Traxxas a non kit brand. I like building my rc's. It sucks this is going to only be a partial build, but at least it isn't a total tear down before I build it like an rtr is... that's my beef on Traxxas. the rc's aren't bad. Nothing better than opening a box of parts trees and labelled bags, spreading them out on the table and browsing the manual to get things laid out in order of the build, then checking each part and cleaning the flashing off getting it built up way better than some sweatshop in Asia (not a racial statement)... nobody ever builds something right by me, no matter where they are from.

And there will just be so many Slash 4x4's out there I had to be different... Just like I don't own an hpi baja. ;)

i kinda feel the same way, i hate rtr vehicles (to the point were i wont buy something if its only rtr, ill look to a vehicle that offers a kit version), and for some reason i clasify traxxas as a toy. i guess its cause they don't offer any kits and the majority of people i see with them know nothing about the hobby, cant work on the vehicles and pay the hobby shop to fix them. they make some cool stuff, always ground breaking vehicles that don't follow a trend, but there is always better stuff out there within a short time.

2nd pic shows the battery box. the 6k 2s sits on it's side, though I found some 3300 3s at hobbyking that will lay down flat in there. it came with the velcro straps.

this is based on the hyper 9 platform. you' be surprised how light it is. and I am going to be racing against all the sponsored hard cores it seems. those guys race every weekend, here or the usa. a big part of the draw for me is coming back to race those guys :D ... Rob, Gord, Terry, Corey... those guys are really great drivers. I am sure they have all bought new tires and stuff... I am going to run mine stock and see how I do... first qualifier or 2 will be feeling it out. Not sure if it's single rounds or totals for mains but we'll see when I get there.

I have to go buy a couple personal transponders now too. That's as much as the kit cost lol

Here ya go, take a $3 hat light, a couple foam wedges to level things and some velcro... lights
and they are inside on the springy handle.. I mounted upside down so I could reach the switch.
it can be solid or flashing...
Last pic is for someone that wanted to see the battery tray. Mine's line with door weather stripping

Thanks.....I will be very interested to see how it handles in race mode....i would think that if and when you jump it the weight of the battery's hanging over to one side and stood on there end will upset its handling...JMO

I was jumping a mound a couple times in the vid rich posted. he missed getting the big air one on the camera, but you could hear him say holy crap LOL. it so far flies flat. the battery balances out with the motor and servo other side. though I had a small 3s in there instead of the 2s. we are racing 2s.

that's on a turnigy 3s 2200 20c battery. the rx pack died. schulze esc and a feigao 5700, stock gear. it changes attitude in the air easy
