Yes pipeous is right. Do not use a fan on a motor that is over heating as a band aid fix. Tune your motor not to overheat, then put a fan on it just as assurance plus your motor will get up to safe operating temperature slower. In 105+ degree weather a fan makes a big difference especially on a track where temp are 135+ degrees. You might get an extra 5 minutes of safe operating temperature running with a fan. And I also have found capacitors to help with temps. Generally you want the temp to be safe at the end of a run with as much power as possible during the run and that is where the fan helps. Also a fan can cool the motor at the end of a run for the next run. You get longer better performance starting with a cool motor. 110 degree days here overheat nitro and electric on a track if they are geared over 25mph its just a matter of how long can I run before overheating.
