What type of oil/s do you all use in your gas mix?

Whats best?

Whats more convenient, butttt:eek: still works well?

I've heard of penzoil, valvoline and stihl but im not exactly sure what im looking for, especially since the "best" or only place for me to get oil around here is walmart. If its not too much of an inconvenience could you provide a pic of what you may use? :)

You opened up a Pandoras box with that question! Here is the first opinion- Maxima 927. can be bought at any good motorcycle shop. 25 to 1 ratio mix. Its kinda like- how do you like your eggs cooked - over easy, well done --

yeah im sure lots of ppl would have there own opinions on whats best & whats not, nut i just don't want to get some cheap brans that will def ruin my engine.

I've used Husqvarna 2 stroke oil and Lucas 2 stroke oil. They both work great. Honestly, it doesn't really matter what brand it is, as long as it meets the engine manufacturers specs.

Also, I got the Husqvarna oil from Lowes, and the Lucas oil from Autozone.

This is the oil I bought today. Poulan Weed Eater 2 Stroke Synthetic Oil•19.6 oz bottle•Easy mix•Reduces engine wear•Enhances engine performance•40:1 mix ratio

I've run the Husqvarna,Castrol,Amsoil, and Echo. All are good. I would just suggest if you plan to run synthetic, ALWAYS run synthetic. Don't go back and forth. Keep the mix ratio consistent too.

Yea, most all the oils are really good. Any one recall the magic Slick 50? Turns out that this oils active ingredent - pfte, teflon- in 1 quart there was 1 drop of this. no kidding! how bout Duralube? recall where they drained the coolant-oil out of car engines and drove them? Ha,Ha, yea, right! When you walk down the oil additive asile in the auto parts store, there are dozens of bottles of --- snake oil. Nearly every one of these bottles says the same thing- contains - spelling- petrolum distallates. - chanscs are, its made from the buffer oil that seperates the fuels that move tru the pipelines - kerosene-buffer- desil-buffer- jet fuel-buffer --- just saying-- pardon the lousy spelling.

If you are going to run synthetic ,you should at least run a couple of gallons of dino(mineral) oil first ,synthetic works so well that that break in would take forever(most guys don't want to run 20 gallons of fuel @1/2 throttle) . The Idea is to seat the rings as fast as possible to reduce blow by ,that is also the reason for the rich mix on a new engine ,to help seal the ring and carry away heat, and also the reason you don't want to push the engine when it's new ,when you push a new motor pressures become to great and hot gasses will be forced past a unseated ring causing the engine to over heat /this will coke the ring lands /reduce tension in the rings/scuff the piston & cyl/and cause a engine to lose power that it will never get back.a well seated motor will make great power/run cooler/rev higher/last longer/start easier.

You will still get your power increase when you switch to synthetic but give it time. as mentioned above don't change back and forth between oils once you make the change.

I use penzoil air cool dino for break in.

Ipone or Klotz after breakin .dependent on mix /klotz up to 25:1 Ipone up to 100:1

PS: Ipone smells even better than klotz LOL

You will have a hard time finding a better protecting 2 cycle oil than Maxima Castor 927. Castor based esters have a high film strength, a high smoke/flashpoint and gravitate toward heat as opposed to other types of oil. The result, of these properties is greater protection for hot spots on cylinder walls, bearings and journals.

On the flip side, you will find that castor oils tend to create alot of "spooge" which is a less than technical name for black oily deposits in tailpipes, which is a byproduct of the oil not being converted to smoke as regularly as other oils. In addition, you may find increased carbon deposits on cylinder heads, piston crowns and rings, but this can be affected by tuning, which ultimately determines the piston wash pattern.

I've run the stuff for years in my MX bikes, and never had an issue with a stuck ring or any failures related to lack of lubrication.
