OK, so I took engine out to put a slammer damn on and locktite grubs on brake system...Think the slammer damn might be issues but that's another thread...

I also took the opportunity to put in the 8K spring...well that didn't turn out so good...After struggling but getting in the spring, I couldn't, no matter what, get one of the screws all the way in (I know those bellville washers are tough but come on this wasn't going in...I used speaker wire as piston stop... works great!)

Closer examination and one of the screws is defective/ worn odd already (this is a 3 tank old MTv3).

Pics are of same screw in both holes so I don't think the holes are the issue.

Can I order just the screws? (edit, I see DDM has them)

Should I get new/better pad anyway?

Has anyone seen this B4?

Edit: Well since it's Friday I wanted to get an order in at DDM...

I got all for a CY engine...

2 clutch pad screws,

2 washers,

2 bellville washers,

engine stopper (blue hehe)

spare spark plug,

2 Muffler gaskets

You guys rule...Wish I was at PowerJam

Ive never heard of that before but hey anything is possible. I don't see what you mean in the picture. I don't know if the ppicture is before or after you got your springs fully installed but in the picture theyre not fully seated. Did you see the vice shoe/spring install some posted on here w/video?

Yes, saw the video...spring might go in further. It's the screw...I wasn't specific..u can see the GAP where screw should snugly be touching all sides of the hole in the pad...this tiny gap wobbled the screw enough that it wouldn't tighten the last 1/2 turn so it never clears the clutch pad and hits the bell...the other screw goes in fine...

I posted better pics with the Gap circled when the same screw is in either hole.

Hamster, do you have the link you are talking about...I should watch it again cause I see no way of getting the tip of the spring farther out the back. I'll try to get another pic of the top but that red spring isn't bending to go in farther; so maybe the video has a trick. It does seem like its in their though.

If nothing else i think its gonna be safe to say you found the culprit for the clicking noise in your motor, im betting the clicking sound was that screw wiggling around in the gap under the engines vibration, that is of course if you haven't already figured the problem out. But it seems to me something like that could produce that sound.

I'm mental, I thought it was the air leak from the muffler gasket (it did seem like extremely minimal oil leakage for the noise I got) It's not like it was an engine seam leaking. But I think you put it together duh!

Hey Hamster /anyone else with insight; regarding the spring not seating fully....I didn't realize that they also have a whole different clutch pad set to go with the 8K springs...In that picture it looks like the holes are beveled out to accept the shorter spring end easier and they drill a few extra holes to remove bit of weight.

My question is, are the newer pads necessary? From all my reading, it didn't sound like you had to get the newer pads, but now since you said something I'm concerned the spring isn't gonna stay in with the old ones.
