Is it possible to replace the engine ring without having to take the engine off the truck? It's an FG MT5 and I got it go this far as pictured and I don't know where to go next to open up the engine further. I'll probably need to separate it from the frame. Any input is appreciated.

yes remove the head

remove your roll bar .....remove all debris/grass dirt.....then remove the 2 bolts holding your head on

crack the bolt seal on one side then crack the other side.....then remove the bolts

Remember its a lot like surgery. Make sure all areas are dirt free. Anything that falls in the bottom will eventually find its way to the top and to your ring.

I would take the engine completely off and clean it real good. Don't mind about getting a little water here or there, you will be taking it apart so it wont matter. Just plug the intake and exhaust holes on both sides.
I recommend removal so that you can install protection screening over the vent holes on the bottom of the motor. The screening will allow you to further protect the flywheel from stones and debris.
I would also inspect the flywheel at the time of upgrading for past damage to fins.

Here is what you have to look forward seeing with the head off.

If you need to remove the flywheel we can help you on cheap alternatives to removal tools.

Good luck!:clover:
