it works for more than 30s

dependable

cons:

price

size

30s eh? Well unless you wanted to find a 1kv motor to run at absolute zero all the time I think there is a useful cost limit to going high with voltage in attempts to improve efficiency.

I think the answer is still a reliable 8-12s setup running 600-800kv. The goal is to compete with the gassers in endurance, no? I think a 12s esc running a 600kv motor of avg. efficiency geared for 40-50mph should be capable of 40 minute runs while keeping decent temps. Batteries are there (50C would do). Motors are available (TP, Leopard, etc). It's just the esc that raises the big ole question mark. I'd rather hold off and wait for a better developed esc for half the price of an XBE than purchase one that costs just as much as the dang vehicle it's supposed to power.

I think they are about 200 bucks over priced. I don't see the problem with the xl2, they are kinda weak but they work. I just got my MGM comp pro in. It's huge and nice looking the problem is if you get the fully wp version repairs are impossible so MGM says, that kinda sucks. MGM is also known for telling people they broke the esc themselves with a bad connection leaving them with a serval hundred dollar paper weight in thier words. I had to wait a while to get my esc as well.

That said it only cost slightly more than my obr gasser. It can put out 20HP. Cost wise we won't see a comparable esc for less for a while. Those chinese escs are fire hazards. If you spend 3k on a fg comp the MGM seems only natural. On a XBE it might seem weird, but that's not why MGM made the esc. It does solve the esc problem for most. I think batteries are more the bottle neck for now. I got spend nearly as much on batts. The hobby king batts are Not that great. Maxx amps and thunder power cost recockulous amounts. , point is if you got money for a MGM go for it, if you don't just use a xl2 and wait.

I'm now on my 4th xl2 running 8s and 6s when it suits me, looks like castle finally go the esc sorted out, you must use a separate bec and a cap bank though imo. As for batts Gen Ace are pretty good as far cheaper batts go, when they are available that is, they get snapped up pretty fast, if you want to lay down the $$$$$ hyperion hold up well......

Big isn't it......

Yeh it's something. I'm waiting for the xbe chassis to buy a 2028. Are you using a bec or just a battery for radio?

That is a monster. Look at the size of those caps! Be interested to see what the weight distribution is like with that and a 2028 in the front...

Choice for car ESCs is so limited at 8S+ ratings, but then the whole 1/5 scene is still very small. Everyone needs to convince a friend to buy a 1/5th vehicle, and soon they will be as common as short course trucks.

Bad amps

Hello,I have a 80amp older model redcat escape question:

I was wondering why this model would take off with the radio control turned in the off position I,m wondering if there are bad fuses in the esc ?

I'm guessing it picking up interference. The radio should always be turned on first and shut off last.
