Anyone ever painted there chassis ? I wondered if it would work and what it looks like, please show pics of your painted chassis

It'll look great for about 30 seconds, then you bolt stuff to it, give it a run then you'll wonder why you bothered. powder coating would be pants too so that leaves mirror finish polishing job or anodizing.

as Mike says its a waste of time painting the chassis ;)

anodizing is good but there is usually a min charge,so could work out expensive

all my chassis get a gentle polish :lol:as i don't like to shiney:D

K....

powder coating is pretty durable. it shouldnt chip away when tightening screws down or leave impressions from bolts or components, providing its baked correctly. thats one of the biggest issues with powder coating, most of the time the parts get under baked (time is money) and the coating isnt as durable as it should be.

the bottom side of its gonna get scraped up no matter what you do. it'll look good for a while, on or offroad, its inevitable its gonna get scratched.

you could always use hammerite which is strong & very durable, but your limited to just a few primary colours, i used it a few years back on my nitro underneath the chassis & it lasted a long time, i got the paint form as at the time there wasnt a spray version, but when set it leaves a rubber-ish coating which is thick :)

Smooth: http://www.hammerite.co.uk/products/direct_to_rust_metal_paint_smooth_finish.jsp

also the "hammered finish" type leaves a kind of speckle effect when dry which looks pretty cool! ..i might invest in some soon to do the underneath of my chassis with the black colour :)

im with trebor and mike on this one its just a waste of time id polish it up will look much better and last longer the first time you take a paint/powder coated chassis out its going to look crap and worse than before you done it all stratched up which will piss you off plus who cares about the bottom of the car its going to be flying accross gravel and mud a inch off the ground

man i bet he uses that to shave with its better than a bloody mirror,,,keith you need to get out more mate instead of spending your life polishing things bet you have arms like hulk hogan

I remember a guy years ago that would buy either Lexan or Plexi sheets and make chassis plates identical to the chassis, drill and counter the screw holes. When the bottom got really scratched up, he'd sand it out and lightly polish it to look new. I never did it cause A.) I was lazy and B.) my bottom usually matched my top!
