Hey Guy's, My question is can you use regular spray paint on the gear cover. Or, does it have to be paint for plastic like Fusion etc... I figured I'd paint my gear cover. So, it won't stick out so much. But, I don't want to melt it with the wrong paint.

it's pretty tough, i don't think regular spray paint will hurt it. I just cut the bottom off mine and drilled some hiles to vent it. then I scotch brighted it a little to dull the color... although a coat of black paint might look good, hmmmm.

Thanks Ron, Well.... I think I'll try some spray paint for plastic on it and see how it goes. I've had good luck painting a clodbuster body with Fusion plastic paint. So this may turn out well.

I figured I'd give you guys an update the plastic paint turned out really well. no problems yet with adhesion etc...Just imagine a shiny black cover with windows to check the gears. Oh, and sorry for the double post.

You can boil the cover for a few minutes using Rit Dye which is a clothing dye u can find at Hobby Lobby and Walmart. It will soak that dye dam near all the way through the plastic. The dye is permenant and cannot be scratched off. Also, if you take it out early from the boil you can also get a transparent look.

P.S. You won't need a gear cover with what's coming out soon. :D

That's CVT (Continuously variable transmission) sometimes called a IVT (Infinite variable transmission).

You'll see what it is soon enough ;) It's just a prelude to what your dreaming about.

You'll have to wait for teaser on the CVT. I gotta stop hijacking this thread about painting the gear covers LMAO. I'll put up a teaser thread on what *cough* two *cough**cough* drive systems are coming out and when.

Oh speaking of gear covers, LOL, I got a black plastic cover that came with my factory XT if anybody wants it. It's never been run. Nice and shiny!
