Here's one for you fellas.I have just tried to no avail to change the chuck from a crap one to a Jacobs key less chuck on my pedestal drill but haven't got a clue how to get the fooker off!
Normally you open the chuck up and there is an allen bolt on the inside, undo that and its off!
I haven't got that bolt. Any ideas??

Depending on what kind of press you have ,some have an allen bolt, And others are pressed on a tapered shaft. hit the top of the chuck and it should pop off.

Fat49 and Rob,top blokes. I hit the top a couple of times and it came off!..............I'm a happy chappie now.
Thanks again for your help fellas.

yeah, extend it fully down ans there will be a slot. Put a drift in there and tap it with a hammer. chuck should just drop out.

This though probably means that you can't fit a standard quick chuck in there as you have a taperfit shaft.

(a drift is a tapered but of plate. if you don't have one, prety much anything will do like a pry bar or far screwdriver)
