I was checking out some sites and see that there is a "performance" carb by Walbro. It's the WT-813 and I was curious if it actually improves the performance that much?

i had an 813 on but it was a pain to start in the cold winter(no choke and hard to tune) i did notice a slight diffrence in my on-roads with the low-end lag. not sure how noticable it will be on the mt. im gona put it back on and see what happens. they are very finicky and i had a slow time tunning it.

did you have a hard time tuning yours? it took me a full tank to tune my on-road and it still wasnt perfect.

I have 813 's on 4 of my 5 engines. I love it I prime the bulb blip the throttle a couple times and she always fires and runs ont he third pull. I won't buy anything other than a 813. I have not had any issues tuning a 813, I find them just as easy to tune as any other carb made.

My opinion go for it, buy one and try it, you will like it.

i run them on both my fg and rampage. even when it's cold and damp it starts in 5-6 pulls. clears up low end lag alot i found and haven't had a prob tuning them..I think they're better suited to hopped up motors rather than stock ones. I wouldn't run anything else now.

i think for 48 shells its worth trying. don't forget the modified throttle link.. im just not good at tunning. wich is why i don't run nitro:eek:
Tuning is not an issue for me. I like to do it and find it very easy. What is the modified throttle link??? I want to know what I need before I order. Does the 813 need a choke lever? I saw some posts about the 813 not having a priming bulb, Every photo I have sen they all have one?!?! Can you guys let me know what I need to order with it to mount it up to my MT? I already have the big bore kit installed. Will the stock manifold work? Throttle linkage and choke lever????

I've got the stock 668, bulb prime it 5-6 times, she starts on first / second pull :) (without choke)

stick with stock, if you want more performance, you can look at replacing something else for the price of an 813 - just my 2 cent

i run an 813 and i love it. there is more bottom end punch, and it starts within 4-5 pulls and idles just fine.a choke(any choke on any type of engine rc or a v8) leans the crap out of your engine "forcing" it to start before it is ready. ive always been a believer in the no choke rule.i picked this bit of info up years ago from a book called "HOW TO KEEP YOUR VOLKSWAGON ALIVE: A STEP BY STEP MANUAL FOR THE COMPLETE IDIOT". a great read check it out, even if you don't have a vw it is a very informative about all thing with 4 wheels.

it's exactly same as 668 but with no choke and has an accelerator pump a la holley double pumper...they're 58bucks with the shaft fitted from oneills or ddm and will bolt right in..

speedy.. a choke cuts off the air and makes the mixture rich...all fuel no air....

So Speedy and Mooman, the $45 for the 813 is a good buy? I want to install one after the Sprint77 rear dom has been on to give a comparison. If it works that well then I will order one for my SS as well. My SS really doesn't need any help at the moment, the 26 with the rear dom on it already is plenty fast enough and pulls some nice wheelies. When my top end needs replaced on the Baja I am think of installing a ported 28.5 on it as well. Like it needs any more! :D

If you buy one get the aluminum intake that is little longer and comes with the teflon gaskets, it is a good compliment to the 813 upgrade, DDM caries them I am new to the 813 was slow going that way because of the controversy , I have had no issues so far with starting or tuning.

Thanks Sprint. I am gonna order one but wait to install it until after the rear dom has been on for a while just to compare.

Took me 15 mins to tune my 813. Starts fine, might take 2-3 more pulls then a stocker, just gotta pump the gas a few times

i toke mine 813 thertine of and put my 668 on and it did/t perform as well as the 813 did ,it semd more snapier with the 813 .
