The p-c boards arrived, picos are in stock - 21 bucks. modding to become a kill switch is the easy part. Hard part is getting 2 solid anchor points for 2 wires to a led. Also needs the leads shortened, no biggie. We shall see how it goes soon. This was bought @ www.dimensionengineering.com. - $1.25 shippping.
 
Modded Pico.

Here is the converted Pico. It has the same functions as the old Killer Bee, with the exception of a external led. Frankly, the led is brighter than i thought it would be. A person could mount this on the side of the radio box- add a led holder for a viewing window, and be good to go. Easy as falling off a wet log for 21 bucks. This is for the new buggy. The $$ I saved will allow me to purchase a throttle servo, or a grade 5 bearing kit.
 
It will only work on a 3 channel Radio. There is another expense- The 2 wire cable from the relay to the engine coil, and a Ferrite snap connector fitted over this cable to lessen the likely hood of ignition interference. Both of these items can be bought at Radio shack, bout 5 bucks. The wires going to the engine coil should NOT be soldered. They must be crimped on. Soldered wires break. I need to brush up on my Ferrite knoledge, what materal to use- 73-77- ect. Then i can provide a part # for the ferrite choke. - nice spelling agan- only 1 word this time! lol!

Here are photos of the cable and ferrite choke. unshure about running a kill switch with no choke on the 2 wire cable--- anyone know?
 
No chokes on mine, Modded or the Killer RC I have, no problems. A buddy has had one for a few years now and no problems either. I think it's one of those things "in some cases" and "just in case". You know what I mean...
 
Yea, thats what I was thinking too, tell ya what, I have a new Autolite non resistor plug laying around- next run- i will install on the XB with the choked cable and see what happens---- read here that it could cause the engine to miss-shut down. Only one way to find out!! The choke could be not so much for the kill switch, but rather for preventing interference to the reciever- the old AM stuff -- just an uneducated guess!
 
The ferite material # is for frequency. IE material 31,33,,43, 73, 77. You can google ferrite material and it will tell you . So your reciever is at 2.4 ghz, so look for materil that is in that frequency range.I don't believe the core is needed on a 2.4ghz cuz its not suposed to have noise,the spark plug makes electonic noise,and that is low frequency I believe so material 31 good from 1 megahertz to 500 megahertz would be in order.

thanks cordy! yea, its been a while- when i but the beam up, i added about 6 inches of 73 materal- nice fit around the rg 8 x. for 10-11 meters. get this- recall barry gold water? he was a ham too- was into 160 meters- He had the $$, had a 160 meter beam!!wow! never saw it- but herd stories- how the heck do you get a 160 meter beam up even one wave lengith? - This was in AZ. - there is a place called Barry Goldwater air force range- south of Phoenix in honor of him.
 
Yes I seen his place from the road on my way to phenox. A half wave on 160 meters is 250 feet long so obviously it must have been a wire beam.So 1 wavelength up would be 500 feet and I do not believe he could do that. So he probably had a four square verticle systom that he could change directions. Sorry guys don't mean to bore you with ham radio stuff but we get carried away at times.
