If it is touching or if it is close the body will need to be trimmed. I had the JP side pipe on my MT, I had to practically cut half the side of the body off. lol
 
my side dom rubs as well. but no melting. it "stretched" the body were it is close to the header, but the rest is fine. i cut as little as possible too, mainly just a slot for the header
