Pipe header bolts keep backing out

Got my jetpro pipe. Bolts keeps backing out. Red loctite helps for about 1/2 HR them same. There has got to be a better way. Anyone ?

What are you tightening with? I usually tighten hand with 4mm hex screwdriver, then really crank down on it with a good 'L' allen wrench...


Also if you are using a thin stock type gasket isn't easy to keep from leaking might wanna try a copper or a heavy duty one.

I use an l Allen key. It's just keeps loosening after some time running

Are you letting the red loctite sit for 24 hours before running it?

Here is a picture of the stud kit installed all you have to do is go to a hardware store and get two 6mm set screws 4 6mm nuts 2 lock washers then use some cleaner on the threads then put red loctite on the studs put them in and install your pipe make sure the nuts will fit and you can turn the nuts without hitting your pipe

I've been wanting to do the studs for a while now. That looks like a headache free fix.

Yes it is rob64n and myself have been running this setup for awhile with great success mine has been on my truck for 3 fun runs and some bashing since june and has'nt came loose at all

Some people put holes in the bolts and run pins or saftety wire through so they can unscrew. I think Chevy did something cool like that?

Id go with some drilled head socket cap screws from mcmaster carr and safteywire them.

We used the tie wire and it did'nt work very well it let the bolts loosen just enough to blow out the gasket

stud kit highly recommended, they are from hollow point or if you can find them at hardware store they are 5 or 6mm by 30mm

sounds like there was slack in the safety wire. For header bolts, you can't do it by hand. You need at minimum regular pliers and at best safety wire pliers

I use self hardening gasket maker on header bolts. loktite we use heat to remove bolts so not a very good thing to use on the hottest place of the rc. high heat gasket maker works good for me.
