Yesterday i thought i would take the brother in law out to show him the KM as he is looking into large scale RC. Anyway everything was going great till my buggie decided it didnt like having four wheels and decided to spew out one of the front wheels about a mile away across the field! I was amazed at how far the bloody thing went it just didnt want to stop lol
On close inspection it seems i have fallen victim to the dreaded disapearing e clip which is annoying but reasured me a little as i was sure the hub had snapped at first instance.

Is there anything other than buying the clipless hubs i can do to make it less likely to happen again?

Happened to me once, lost my front hub's e clip, and I didn't bring spares. It just only 10 minutes play time. Then I get back home:(

there is a mod you can do with a screw, but then if the wheel hits something it could break the hub, the e,clip is a bit of pain sometimes but it works try crimping the clip a bit so its a tighter fit.

Yeah is annoying was only out for like 15 mins and it happened and the only thing i didnt put in my field bag was my box of spare screws and clips! Will defo take them out next time!

Will give that a go crimping it a little. don't really fancy getting the clipless hubs like you say its prob gonna break the hub on impact i think i will stick with the clips gonna be better on the wallet i reckon lol

i actually made my own hubs clipless, its easy, grind off that end where clip goes flat and flush with main body of hub. get a tap and tap the hole in hub, get bolts and a flat washer JUST big nuff to fit, go to big and it drags the hub, to small it wont stay on. bolt and washer the wheel hubs on and you done. i have a set of extended front hubs, and rear hubs, the DS rear hubs are great, the fronts, i didnt like cuz it made it to squirrely/touchy to steer, so i used the stock metal hubs and did the no e clip mod to them. its worked great so far steers perfect too

We always take extra gas with us so Always carry that spare parts bag!!! you gonna need it ;) The clip is a 15 minuet field fix at most and I would rather replace that clip than a more expensive other part.
I am going to keep in mind "Lan-Ed-Tul" Mod though:cool:

just depends on how ruff ya gonna be on it, just kickin it round and stuff the bolt mod is perfect, now for big jumps, it might not be so much, as mentioned, it might bust the hubs, but i also have alloy hubs all way round too.
