please help!!!!!

right, i have upgraded my rx battery to a 4500mah, its 6v and has the tamiya type connector and the small black futaba type. my buggy didnt come with an on/off switch basically you just connect of disconnect the battery which im not to fond of SO...... what i want to do Is connect the on/off switch inline using the small black connector and charge the battery using the tamiya plug.

but forgive me for being a donut but could someone please confirm i could charge the battery using the tamiya plug with this charger, it says it does from 1 to 14 cell batteries so does the charger automatically recognise how many cells?

TBH the set up you have with the tamiya plugs is prob best. Deans plugs are also a good alternative. The switch is a weak point a susceptible to water ingress which can short the circuit causing a runaway. Yes a remote kill switch can reduce the effects of a runaway but stopping it happening in the 1st place is key. Treat your remote kill switch like an air bag - it reduces the chance of damage.

Your charger will either automatically detect the number of cells or you will have to set the vaultage - 4 cells = 4.8v, 5 cells = 6v, 6 cells = 7.2v etc etc

so what should i do instead of a switch? just leave it so i connect it each time?

im running a v1 killer bee at the moment
 
yeah a few on here choose that method but i run with a switch but its mounted high out the way and waterproof cover fitted never had a problem but i do run kill switch just incase

You can now get 6000 mah nimh packs cheaper than the one you bought.:D You should change the tamiya connector to a deans connctor and leave the the servo type plug for the switch. I use a DSC switch with a led light to tell me if the system is on. Just make sure to leave the switch off when charging with the dean conncector.:)
 
The less junk you have in your electrical system the better.

People on here know I don't use/like a kill switch but I can see the point of having one if you're not racing.

An on off switch is a waste of time and is a liability. The tamiya plug you have is more than adequate and will stand up to being plugged in and unplugged when you need to. There is nothing wrong with having a 4500mah 6v pack in your car, I use the same size running 2 x 20kg savox servos, a tonegowa and PT and I've never had one go flat event after a 30 minute A final.

BTW, the smaller "servo" plug & wire is handy to used for a loom if you direct wire your servos. I de-solder it on my packs and just put some new heat shrink on.
