Hey guys I've been gone for awhile, but I decided to knock the dust off of Kermit and toss in a ported head. I don't want to replace the whole motor, just the head. I'm pretty much down to the ESP Ported for $130 http://www.davesmotors.com/cc255_2

Or the OBR for $110. http://www.oneillbrothers.com/rc-car/engines/race-ported-2-bolt-top-ends-upgrade-kits/race-ported-2-bolt-30-top-end.html

What are your recommendations? Please only experienced tuners need to respond as I have no need for regurgitated Internet babble.

If you have experience with either (or both) of these heads, please let me know.

My goal is to run the 35/25 gears, but the stock motor doesn't have enough ass to pull em. So time to find a head that will. I plan to put the order in this coming Friday, so please let me know.

My pipe is a Dino side bleed.

Thanks Guys!

Trip I have had great success with the esp head, I run it in an MT and it creates gobs of power, Doug at esp is a great guy he will help you in any way he can. He recommends using a copper head gasket to get the squish rate as low as possible, when I first installed it I used a zen paper gasket and it ran great but after talking to Doug I installed a .005 copper gasket and got amazing results. I recommend you call and talk to Doug he will tell you the ins and outs of all the engine hype!

You could always do your own porting, if you're that anal about it. I've had a few ESP cylinder kits and they looked pretty clean. I've never had an OBR kit, so I can't speak on that.

If I did it myself, it would be even worse.

After searching for hours last night, I couldn't find another pic of bad port work from ESP, I think maybe the "Owner" tried to do some improving on Doug's work? So I guess I have to remove the previous posts. I just saw that chamfer and it infuriated me.

Posts deleted. No sense in bashing on the man if he didn't do anything wrong. It's funny how annoyed I can get about something that has nothing to do with me, lmao!

There is always a bad apple. I would say that cracked cylinder is not from the porting, but a defect in the original product.

After 2 hours worth of phone calls with ESP, OBR and Dino at Jetpro, that head cracked due to, too high of a compression ratio, somewhere in the 19:1 or 20:1 range! I guess it's quite common, that's one of the reasons OBR prefers the 4 bolt.

After talking with both ESP and OBR, I decided to go with OBR. He (Shawn) had a great attitude, was informative and seemed to be interested in finding a head that would work well with my car, my pipe and my gearing. Whereas Doug at ESP was more interested in bad mouthing both Dino (one of my friends) and OBR. I don't promote that kind of attitude, nor do I support it.

OBR gained a customer, and ESP lost one. One should never set fire to the bridge in which one stands.
