Pot plant found

In my 20 years in the mechanical field I have never witnessed what I saw today. I responded to a call and the customer stating the heating unit I installed was making noise. I heard a fan running behind a wall but when I checked unit it was not running. so I crawled through attic and found a hidden space with reflective paper, light and fan running, and three pot plants.... So I showed customer and figured out the 18 year old son was growing it. I went outside to clean up and smelled pot outside, the father put it in the fireplace. When I went back inside to tell him what I smelt outside he was like a deer in headlights....... Priceless to say the least.

The guys at work said I should have called the kid upstairs and cut the plant at the base and brought it back to shop. The guys I work with said it is not like the kid could tell on me. Lol
