Revving to ..... 9500rpm - hope that 'development's' quite advanced to take it to 25k, or are they going to limit it to 18k like F1.

Al.

I would think if they use a similar engine in a land vehicle they would make it put out more RPM. Most air engines are much lower RPM engines then land vehicle engines gas nitro or what ever engines. Do not know if they will turn 25K out of the box but I hope at least 18K.

plane engines typically run a fixed rpm for a long time, so you select a prop that will keep the engine near its peak power. in a car, its a different story. a zenoah g26 aircraft engine says its designed to run at 8900rpm. we all know most offroad stuff running basicly the same motor can run up to double that.

Never had HPI lie to me yet. I am signed up for HPI news letter and the picture I posted was in it.

I think that all is leaking out!!
It's going to be a standard sized large Savage, whatever that crap is - Losi for me - with a 20cc 2-stroke - NOT 4-STROKE - motor.
Not clear is how powerful thus how high revving this 2-stroke will be - or how long a modified low revving 2-stroke will last when made to rev much higher .....
The truck we all know is pretty damned solid ... sorry but I don't like it ... but agreed it's a good'un, but the engine .... and the space for the gas / 2-stroke fuel ... and servos, etc ....

Al.

I will not form a opinion till it is out and some end users have some time on it. No matter what it sure is the talk of most RC forums right now. I would rather it be a HPI 1/5 scale 4 wheel drive buggy.

This is big I love what hpi is doing!
It looks to be very nice!
If it is better then the MCD cat I will wait until Xmas before I make my mind up!

actually it can be a good idea to get people thinking about this sort of thing early. one, it builds up anticipation, two, as people discuss it on the forums hpi can sit back and see what people have to say about it and get feedback, without people even knowing it. there is also the chance of somebody bringing up a point that the designers didnt even think of. the downside is it gives the competition a chance to get on whatever possible bandwagon and start working on something similar.

I would love to see traxxas come out with a 1/5 or 1/8 gas truck or buggy. I think if they came out with a revo 1/5 they could not make enough!!!

DIG UP THE OLD THREAD TIME ......

Has anyone got any news on this '1/8 HPI Gasser' engine?

The silence is deafening!!

It'll need to be good, to be considered instead of nitro monsters like the LRP ZR.30 and now ZR.32 - apart from the fact that they are nitro ..... !!

Al.

last thing i read on savage central was spring 2013.

if the thing can compete with the current crop of savage stock engine (4.6 and 5.9) and the engine is reliable, it'll be a huge hit, and the next phase of 1/8 scale r/c. if not, its just gonna set the fuel powered stuff farther behind the electric stuff. really its all how well its refined. OS had the chance to charge fuel r/c forever with the 4 stroke engines, and they blew it. after a bunch of work (different carb, proper header, fuel pump, custome flywheel) the things were killer motors, but because they wernt killer out of the box and didnt bolt into anything, it was a flop.
